If corporations are gonna be greedy. It's time to steal some of that value back for us. Huzzah!

Fuck it! I'll be old fashioned and use an outdoor grill.

Hey that's a pretty good setup! It's a lot better than mine! LOL.

Good! I am a mid-life Gen Xer and it's not the fault of Gen Z that the world is fucked up beyond all recognition. The Boomer and older Gen Xers fucked it up for everybody.

This is fucking ridiculous! Do you have to buy a subscription in order to use the appliance? If so, it seems to me that this would constitute unfair trade practice. Some shit just does not belong on the internet. Can you imagine the serious and life threatening situation that could develop, if say, somebody hacked into a system and turned gas stoves on and a fire developed? No, it's time to draw the line at IoT!

Lately there's been an awful lot of inescapable heat.

You've got Pixelfed which is similar to Instagram.

Nextcloud works well for general files. Immich is the way to go specifically for photo storing. It's got a whole lot of added features.

If your requirements don't need federation, then look into nextcloud.

I don't see this functionality in Lemmy. Mastodon has settings where you can limit your posting visibility to only those who follow you. But anybody that you don't expressly block will still be able to see your profile. More privacy features mighr be in development.

Probably your best bet is to keep your fediverse handle as anonymous as is possible. That would be the best advice I have to give. Also, don't give clues as to your whereabouts in your posts. Nothing on the Internet is trult private and infosec is hard. Always assume that a fediverse instance could be compromised at any time. Use some common sense and basic operational security and you should be okay.

I have to admit I like the concept of rootless containers very much.

Floof monster!

I am thinking of setting up an overlay network using Nebula but I am curious as to what other completely open source projects there are out there. Sure I know about the commercial ones like Tailscale and Zerotier but I'd like to know what else I might be missing.
