But it's pretty realistic and happens all the time. I don't see what's 'bootlicky' about not trusting 'promises' by corporations years before release that are not protected under laws like the Trades Description Act.
I don't know what was supposedly promised, because I didn't follow interviews and stuff leading up to it, I just bought the game based on what was actually delivered in the end, which is how all purchases should really be made.
Stuff mentioned during development should never be taken as a promise, no matter how trustworthy or honest the developer is. This is just the simple reality of long projects.
It's also why we don't hear from devs as much these days, instead it's mostly PR people, as too much weight is put on off-hand quotes.
Studios like CDPR have nothing to gain, and lots to lose, by deliberately over-promising.
Eh, not from the States, but most people I know who vote conservative don't subscribe to all the hateful, culture war shit, aren't remotely racist, and have pretty boring reasons for voting the way they do. When push came to shove and the latest conservative leadership turned out to be awful, they were pretty quick to reject them and change their votes. I do think that conservatives who continue to hang onto Trump specifically at this stage are a bit weird, I think it's pretty hard to justify supporting him over a more capable conservative candidate, but again, people may have good reasons.
I think you have to make the effort, so long as it's mutual, otherwise how will we ever understand each other? As much as people like to highlight the idiots from the other side, most people can give a rational reason for their opinions, and constructively discussing opinions helps you to understand what makes people vote the way they do, and explaining it helps make people question their opinions, which is always good.
It all just devolves so quickly, especially online, where people simply don't want to listen or be civil, it's a shame, because I think it will just get worse when we're like this. But people on the left will say there's no reasoning with them because they just want people to die or to eliminate some group, and people on the right will say that the left wants to indoctrinate your kids and want to destroy our society and take everyones' shit. So why would you want to understand?
The problem is that those extremists don't represent the views of 90% of the population who agree on the broad strokes, but ultimately have minor disagreements over the details. This culture war shit has to stop. I mean fuck, I'm trans, and I don't think about it or get as angry about it as much as some random middle age dude from Texas who's never seen one in his life, or a random teenager who wants to fucking white knight me for some reason. Like, nothing has happened here that has made me feel the need to pick up a protest sign, so why do people care so much? It's just weird, especially the anti-crowd.
Just look at the inconsequential things that the culture war has decided to pick as battlegrounds and you'll immediately see why it's just a distraction from literally anything of consequence.
What happened to the principle of 'mind your own business'? I swear politics are just full of micromanaging enthusiasts who think they know best and can't just leave people the fuck alone!
The right way to start the week! I'm sure all these repairs are being done to the highest standards with full structural surveys, no way for all these strikes to be causing cumulative damage...
What was promised where? Because yeah, get capable technical team together who are excited to share a project they're working on, and they are bound to be optimistic about what could be realistically implemented over a long timeframe. Nothing but the official release product information should be considered a promise, and nothing but unsponsored, unaffiliated reviews should be taken as proof.
I highly doubt that any pre-launch 'promises' were made with an intention to decieve.
It's honestly one of the most wonderful games I have played in a really long time. Totally different from anything I've played, the sort of thing I wouldn't have thought I'd have enjoyed.
All I can say is, read as little as you can before going in, and resist the temptation to look up guides, at least to start with. Your curiosity slowly leads you to answers, and the satisfaction of piecing together bits of information and constantly making and adapting your own theories as you play is priceless. It's a game actually designed to be completed by natural curiosity and exploration, which you rarely see!
I've heard that before, I found 99% of it just beautiful. I dropped acid playing it in VR and it was just incredible. But yeah, I knew enough not to go to Dark Bramble! Some of the quantum effects can be spoopy too.
This is life-changing. I can't believe this has been such an easy option!
Like OP, I couldn't really put my finger on why I found so much of this stuff frustrating, I think this will make a big difference for me.
That makes it even dumber though, surely? Lots of people invest in tech businesses that are not profitable and have no plans to become sustainable, some idiots even buy them.
It's things like user count and activity that will be more meaningful in that scenario, so one should avoid doing anything to reduce those figures.
