Wondering if there’s any way to confirm something I feel like I’ve noticed.

Ever since Garnacho’s overhead kick, I feel that I’ve seen more overhead kicks attempted. One moment that stands out is (I think) in the Real Madrid v Napoli game this week where I believe two players in a row attempted an overhead kick on the same play.

My hypothesis:

An overhead kick goal being scored increases the odds that players will attempt overhead kick goals in the following weeks because seeing someone else do it gives players the confidence to try it themselves. Does anyone have access to the data to test this hypothesis?

It’s also very possible that I’m just noticing it more. That would be the null hypothesis.

It’s almost like small clubs on the way up need 2 managers, one who plays in a progressive way to get them promoted and one to play in a conservative way to help them get established in the new league. These two managers would trade the job every 2-3 years.

People who gamble were already gambling. The advertising just directs their gambling to a specific place.

I never gamble, so seeing a gambling add does not make me want to gamble.
