You can't explain something to someone when his living depends on him not understanding it

"Advertisement doesn't work" is a bold claim to make

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Very bold, very wrong

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

So you're saying the gambling companies are wasting their money?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Sky Bet in shambles they've sponsored the entirety of the EFL for nothing

"I've seen no evidence of a link, coincidentally I haven't asked or looked for evidence of a link..."

Must have had his eyes closed and his fingers in his ears

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Then why would they advertise with you lol. “They’re happy to throw money away to bankroll teams for no benefit to themselves”. Moronic take

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Man is a genius. He just saved countles companies billions, they now know that adds and propaganda in fact don’t work.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

This is like the police turning blind eyes to a mafia owned business.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

So that's why companies spend trillions on advertising. Because it does nothing!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Increase in gambling, or gambling addiction? That’s a distinction that one needs to make in this case. I can see how they might have a point for the latter, but the former seems a bit odd.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Wow, so advertising does not work? bold claim Cotton.

Its just pure gaslighting at this point.

"We've seen no evidence because we refuse to look into it, it would make us look like cunts"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

The people who rule football are nothing more than shameless corrupts, and statements like this proves It.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

People who gamble were already gambling. The advertising just directs their gambling to a specific place.

I never gamble, so seeing a gambling add does not make me want to gamble.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Of course he'd say that. It's all about the money coming in.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Then why are companies paying for it?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Well then wouldn't we see the sponsorships ceasing because obviously they have no effect?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Someone should tell the sponsors that. They seem to be wasting their money!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

Love it when they tell you with a straight face that water isn’t wet

"Baseball cards in the cigarette packs isn't why all the kids have started smoking"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago

So many idiots in this thread with no critical thinking ability. This is a perfectly believable scenario.

‘Hurrrr durrr why would gambling companies bother advertising then’

They’re competing for the attention of preexisting gambling addicts. It can’t be assumed that these advertisements have any effect on the overall size of that pie.

The business is driven by whales. Personally, I find it hard to believe that the overall number people with horrific gambling addictions is a function of ‘are clubs are allowed to have gambling sponsors or not’. Whatever the case, it’s certainly valid to require evidence of the effects before making assumptions.

Policies like this are pencil pushing, time wasting virtue signals. Does bugger all to help anyone. They are a creation of gambling PR departments, who love discourse centered around this meaningless shit, rather than difficult questions be asked about the moral core of their business. Be above it.

What an absolute bullshit artist. Absolutely washing his hands of a serious issue in the sport and pretending it isn't a problem.
