You know, we've already got an app to go to deal with Zucks' social media hole. It would be nice to have a space that wasn't connected to it. Then we all get the best of both worlds.
IT lead here; this is exactly how to get servers to work.
If you close your eyes, you can metaphorically hear the tides changing on the music streaming industry. The fall of Netflix is such a stark reminder of how fast these convenient services can morph into user hostile experiences.
Plus, there is the added philosophical discussion about what it means to allow a centralized corporate media conglomerate to curate your music for you. I'd imagine that their insentivisation structure over what should be heard is different than yours.
For serious though, I hypothesize that your library/playlist data (xml, maybe? somewhere? I'm just starting the journey of offloading.) is more valuable to users than the music itself. Next step is figuring out how to export Spotify's data.
A little clarification for me and whomever else sees this and is confused:
How do I add these suggestions to my feed? Do I need to make an account with each provider individually?

Well, it seems there is a bit of a learning curve. I, and most likely you, still haven't figured out the mechanics of Lemmy and the federverse. Give it time,
Just like Digg before Reddit, we will soon adept. The apps will get better and things will make more sense.
It may look and work slightly different, but with a little work, maybe this will be the communities that thrives the longest..
