This month I finished Tecmo's Deception originally released on the PS1. I had played it before not too long after it originally released and beat it and was done. Just recently found out there were multiple endings so decided to go back and get a few more of them. I feel the game held up surprisingly well, especially after rebinding the controls to be more modern like.

The story was very simple, the game play was fun. I enjoyed the sound track and the game does not over stay its welcome.

Eventually I will replay the 2nd one as well and finally get to play the 3rd one.

Check out antiperspirant for your feet. The issue might be related to your feet sweating and creating dampness in your shoe your whole shift. Also ideally have two pairs of shoes to alternate for work.

If you made progress this month:

Congratulations! We’d love to hear about it!

Title, platform, genre, etc.

Did you complete the game?

What did you think of it?

Did you start on one game and switch to another?

Make sure to use spoiler tags if you’re posting anything about a game’s plot that might significantly hurt the experience of others that haven’t played the game yet (no matter how old or new the game is).

I will definitely say it counts. Any goal you set is your own! With that said I have not played Stardew Valley again since beta... Because I don't want to get sucked into it since I had put in a lot of hours into just the beta. Maybe one day again.

Goals are the same as last month...Finish Code Vein or Grisaia. But I also think I will start Final Fantasy VII classic to slowly prepare myself for the new ones that I am delaying playing.

Grab your games! What are you playing this month?

Title, platform, etc.

How long do you think it’ll take to beat it? Is it totally new or are you finishing it up?

I finished none of the games I had intended to for the month, but I did finish one particular notable one and one not so much.

The less interesting one I finished was Streets Of Kamurocho which really wasn't much to it. Just a beat em up of the same stage over and over with progressively more enemies or they do more damage. Fun for the 30 min or so I played, but probably won't go back to this game.

The much more interesting game that I finally played was Portal 1. Never got around to it when it first came out over a decade ago. But I finally understand the meme that was from back then. Somehow I was able to not see spoilers all this time. The game holds up very well as an fps with great controls for puzzle solving. The minor amount of story / lore was enjoyable and I found the dialogue to be as well. I can see myself revisiting this game from time to time to just to see what crazy things I can try mechanics wise.

Oldest one I boot up regularly is Super Mario World I would say. On a less frequent occasion I do also play Tecmo's Deception (PS1). I do like going back to Gradius for the SNES as well.

Contra and Contra 2 are fun, but very challenging games I will occasionally bust out.

PC gaming wise I have been playing City of Heroes and Diablo 1.

Oooo I forgot this was airing...going to have to pick it up. Thanks for the post.

[–] XBannedx 8 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Yes I have. I switch between older AAA and current indie games. I have tried some recent AAA games as well. I play anything I want at the time I want to play something.

I only put in a few hours toward the games I had planned to complete for February. My plan got blindsided by friends wanting to play City of Heroes, which was honestly a blast. I did get a character to max level. So maybe I can count that as completing something for a game since I've never done that for an MMORPG.

I will be finishing up Code Vein and Fruits of Grisaia. Pretty sure I am in the last third of the game for Code Vein, but hard to know since I don't check guides usually. For Fruits of Grisaia I think I am about done with the common route. Switching back and forth between these two games has been pretty good depending on how involved I want to be mechanically with the game I am playing.

Hey that's a fantastic variety of games to beat for the month. Super Hot regular has been on my radar for some time, I might even own the VR edition and not know it. Only VR game I played regularly when I first got it was Beat Saber.

The lean mechanics in Call of Duty were one of my favorite when I used to play FPS all the time. I haven't in quite some time, but I think they may not be in a lot of new FPS games? Admittedly I don't think I have played any COD before 4 and none after the 2nd Black Ops except for a bit of Warzone when it first came out.

I personally probably won't be beating anything this month. Next month I expect to have two games completed. Code Vein I feel like I am close to the end. ~~Tekken 8 I will considered completed once I finish character stories and maybe arcade quest, but that mode doesn't really interest me at all.~~

Edit: I actually did end up being able to complete what I wanted for Tekken 8. The main story was what I wanted from it. The character stories were good and some made me chuckle. One made me think of what could have been. From here forward this will be my time wasting on ranked game play when winding down.

I am creating a community that would be text only and not sure how to go about changing this setting.

"Shamelessly copied from old 12in12" (this is a very much spare time project for me, but figured I would give it a try)

Mission

Take the challenge - Defeat your backlog!

A lot of gamers have built up a sizable backlog of games they haven't gotten around to finishing or even trying for the first time. With bundles and sales so tempting, it's easy to rack up a large library! Take the 12in12 challenge and knock down your backlog while having fun. A little community support can go a long way towards meeting your goals. How It Works

  • 1 Organize your backlog.

  • 2 Pick 12 games that you want to complete.

  • 3 Play one each month.

  • 4 Post about your progress and encourage others.

Thread Schedule

Day of Month Subject
1st thru 5th Monthly Starting Thread - Declare what game(s) you'll be playing so you can stick to it.
6th thru 24th Monthly Genre Thread - Discuss the genre of the month with players on any platform.
25th thru end Monthly Finishing Thread - Discuss what you attempted, completed, or lagged on.

FAQ

Can I only join in January? And do I have to play a game in the genre of the month?

No! You can start at any time in the year, and you can play whatever games you want. The monthly genre thread is to unite gamers across all platforms in a fun discussion, and maybe provide some inspiration to pick something you'd otherwise miss from your backlog.

Do I have to play a game a month? Can I do more or fewer than that?

You can set up any goal you want. Some intrepid users are even attempting 52in52 (one game per week)! Everyone's schedule and situation is different, but try to set a realistic goal so you can keep on track with it throughout the year.

What if I fall behind?

Life happens, and gaming is one of the first things to be pushed aside for other priorities. It's okay! You can adjust your goal or work on it more the next month. We have a monthly thread for discussing progress.

Am I not allowed to buy any new games?

Of course you can buy new games. However this community is about knocking a backlog down rather than adding to it. If you're chomping at the bit for that new AAA game or something that just came out, pick it up and play it right away.

I don't like one of the games I tried. Does that count?

Yes, it's good that you gave it a try and that's one less title on your list to worry about. Progress is great. If there's more time left in the month, pick another game and give it a go. Bundle addicts, we're looking at you here.--

I have quite a few games already started from last year. This year I would like to finish some. My list is pretty flexible. Might throw in some shorter games from my back log that look interesting.

My 12 in 12 to beat for 2024

Fruits of Grisaia (started)

Alan Wake 2 (started)

Baldur’s Gate 3 (started)

Street Figher VI (started)

Tekken 8

Xenoblade Chronicles 1 (started)

Code Vein (started)

Yakuza 1

Super Mario Wonder (started)

Control (started)

Bayonetta 3

No More Heroes 3

Possible alternates

Cyberpunk 2077

Horizon Zero Dawn

Final Fantasy XIV (started)

Deception

Paper Mario

Tears of the Kingdom

Fate Stay Night (started)

First episode was a good watch. I actually never heard of gamers actually searching out trash games to play but I guess that could be a thing. I am a fan of a duel wield protaganist and the MC's avatar in game is humorous.

I will be glad to see Ippo finally step back into the ring I hope even if it is just for a spar. I can't wait for the next few issues.
