🔥 A cyber attack of the DIU "knocked down" the server of the special communications of the Ministry of Defense of Russia

👉 The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine informs - on January 30, 2024, as a result of a cyber attack, the server of the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor state of Russia, which was used for special communication, was "disrupted".

🫡 The operation in the enemy's cyberspace was carried out by specialists of the DIU of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

☑️ As a result of the cyber attack, the exchange of information between the units of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, which used the specified server located in Moscow, was stopped.

☝️ The software on the attacked server was approved by the FSB of the Russian Federation as meeting state information protection standards.

⚡️ Appropriate software was installed at various strategic objects of the Russian public sector, in particular - military ones.

⚔️ Cyber operation - ongoing.

🇺🇦 Glory to Ukraine!

The biggest glitch in RuNet is that sites with the .ru domain are unavailable

Internet users report problems accessing Russian websites. Yandex websites, a number of news portals, banking applications, taxis and deliveries do not work. Clients of all major Russian operators, as well as compatriots abroad, for example, in Europe and Armenia, complain about problems with access.

In specialized communities they write that the failure may be associated with DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) - this protocol is used to increase the security of sites. For example, to prevent attackers from replacing data or a site’s IP address.

UPD: The Ministry of Digital Development also confirmed a failure due to DNSSEC - they promise to restore access to .ru sites “in the near future.”

🔥SOF DESTROYED the enemy BMP that tried to hit BpAK crews in Kherson Oblast

⚫ Operators of one of the units of the SOF during night reconnaissance discovered a Russian BMP on the left bank of the Kherson region, which went hunting for Ukrainian BpAK crews.

⚫ Fire damage was promptly inflicted on the enemy target by strike drones. As a result, the enemy's BMP was completely destroyed, and the Ukrainian pilots continued their work to destroy the occupiers on the left bank of the Dnipro.

The Netherlands is contributing €87 million to the purchase of artillery shells for Ukraine. €25 million will also be paid into the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) to purchase equipment. The government is also investing €10 million in improving Ukraine's cyber defenses. Minister Kajsa Ollongren reported this to the House of Representatives today.

The donations are the result of a consultation of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), which includes 50 partner countries. They help Ukraine purchase equipment and resources to defend itself against Russia.

The Netherlands previously contributed €100 million to the IFU, an initiative of the United Kingdom. Air defense systems, ammunition and spare parts were purchased from the fund. The equipment is purchased directly from the industry. This way it gets to Ukraine faster and the budget is used optimally.

The Netherlands also previously made €130 million available for artillery shells for a German-led fund for the purchase of 155mm shells, which are in great need in Ukraine. The newly promised €87 million is on top of this.

Hacking attempts

The contribution for cyber defense will be spent, among other things, on setting up and expanding the online infrastructure in Ukraine. This is very important. The country has already faced several hacking attempts and cyber attacks.

“It is very important to support Ukraine for not only the short term, but also the long term,” Ollongren said. “Right now it is important to show that we are helping Ukraine. They fight for their country and for the values we share: self-determination, freedom, equality, human rights.”

Lemmy servers are federated with each other, so users can participate in another server's communities without having to create an account.* ActivityPub is the protocol that allows users to interact with compatible platforms including Kbin, Mastodon, and PeerTube.

*Servers may defederate/block other servers from participating in their communities for reasons including spam, bot activity, trolling, ideology, etc.
