Probably not.

KeepassXC with Syncthing is the best option I've found.

I wanted to mention I can't follow !amateur_radio on mastodon either.

[–] TrojanHam 1 points 2 years ago

I think they stay? I don't know.

[–] TrojanHam 5 points 2 years ago

I joined mastodon.radio specifically for that reason - it's radio-focused.

[–] TrojanHam 4 points 2 years ago

I think it might have been. I can't keep track because I'm operating Field Day.

I wish I fully understood the licensing structure.

As an early Mastodon user, it went through something like this when overt Nazis (gab, et al) federated and often used misleading names for instances. The result was an immediate reaction in disgust from the vast majority of the fediverse and rampant defederations of hateful instances.

I really don't want to move. It is easy to block a community as a user but I think the rush to judgment leads a lot of the internet mob, though well intentioned, to get out the pitchforks and torches and burn down their own houses. One instance, as I understand it has already defederated sh.itjust.works.

While I blocked the community, I don't want my little community blocked because the whole instance is defederated. Should that happen I will leave - an advantage of federation.

Edit: I also blocked the 2 posters. There were only 2.

#QSL

My brother and I will be operating as a 2B - battery station from my family's homestead farm. We'll be using my call.

There may be pictures of an old barn taken.

We're still ironing out plans but we may take advantage of the 27 hour time limit if we start set up at 1800 UTC. We're both #POTA and #SOTA operators so getting the rigs up probably won't take much time.

Hope to get some digital out with my new Crow Pi in addition to #SSB.

If it had a tuner, it could've been a "G90-killer."

I can't justify getting another rig but this is probably on my next-up list.

So what are people's Field Day plans?

My brother and I will be operating QRP with solar power from our parents' farm. It's forecast to rain so I hope things work out well.

I got my HTX-202 at Rochester. I also remember seeing the first round of presentations on this wacky voice over IP project called Echolink.

I actually took notes.

It boosts some engagement variable for algorithm -which, I'm told, improves some score and placement.

Just a brief rant:

I'm seriously getting tired of looking for some information about a rig, antenna, etc and being directed to nothing but YouTube videos. It seems everyone wants to be a famous influencer.

Just look at the main QRZ.com page. It's all links to YouTube videos.

Sometimes videos help but it's become absurd - especially when it takes less time to read the information than watch some video. Oh, if you're making some stupid face and pointing at something, I doubt I will ever watch the video.

Just checked over to see what's going on at reddit and it would a appear both sub's have gone dark.

TARA Social Net - Troy, NY (self.amateur_radio)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by TrojanHam to c/amateur_radio

This is a QST is for any Troy hams on this sub and others who might be interested in the hobby:

The Troy Amateur Radio Association (TARA) has a weekly social net every Thursday. The net is open to ALL amateurs - not just TARA members.

The TARA Social Net is a "directed-informal" net which means there will be a net control station and regular check-ins BUT the participants decide what they want to talk about as long as it's friendly and follows proper operator etiquette. Discussion will be round-robin in the order of check-in. If you're new to the hobby or nets, don't sweat anything - you can check "in and out" and just listen. The net is here for camaraderie and enjoyment of the hobby.

In addition to portable and mobile stations, new (1 year or so) and younger (college-aged or so) hams also get priority check-in (there's nothing special other than you get to talk first - which might be helpful if you have questions). If you're new to the hobby, this could be a good opportunity to gain some communal knowledge.

There are usually 3 go-arounds and 2 shared questions you can choose (or not) to answer. The first is a general question ("What's you favorite radio?"). The second is a randomly chosen question from the Technician, General, or Amateur Extra licensing question pools. We get to see what we think we know and what we really know.

The net is held on Thursdays at 8pm on the N2TY linked repeater system (145.17 MHz and/or 447.075 MHz) located in Troy, NY. Visit N2TY.org for PL tone, offset, and Echolink connection information.

No radio but licensed? You can use EchoLink to log in...from anywhere (we've had check ins from South Korea and England for example)!
