The 2nd amendment doesn't give the right to all Americans to have guns, it simply provisions a well regulated militia. Right now we don't have sufficient regulation to keep gun violence at a reasonable rate, so we clearly don't have a well regulated militia as detailed in the constitution

Some people have never been in a situation that required one, and they don’t understand why people would need one.

Realistically such situations come about because of easy access to guns. Make it more work to buy and keep a firearm, use red flag laws to prevent those who cannot safely own and maintain a firearm from having them, provide easy gun buyback & disposal, and eventually the gun population will dwindle and fewer people will have actual needs for guns. Overtime with such programs firearm ownership should eventually find itself at a reasonable level where only responsible gun owners have them

A speed limit encourages everyone to go a similar speed and sets the tone to a safeish speed. How fast most traffic goes on a highway does vary wildly by region, but at least from what I've seen regionally, its largely informed by the construction of the highway and the speed limit. Lower limit means lower overall speed while a higher limit leads to a higher overall speed

Not sure if this is a local thing or not, but Dominoes has been consistently giving me a free medium pizza coupon after every pizza I've got from them for the last 12 months or so. So that's like 3 or 4 times they've done that

Five Guys at least has better food than most fast food and the portions are so massive you basically have to share

Give me an A&W or a Long John Silvers or something

I don't know if this is just a problem with my local A&W or not but they got super expensive. I was a town over for a thing, we said "oh lets just get A&W so we don't have to spend the gas to go to [next town with more lunch options]" and the bill for 2 adults and 2 kids who never finish their shared kids meal was over $50

bring my own thermos with a pot of coffee in it and a small snack or lunch everyday. I’ve saved probably over a thousand bucks this year already

Since finally taking the time to actually budget out my spending, I've become big on packing sandwiches. I spend about $20 a week on sandwich things, which good luck getting 2 meals out of that same budget eating out

Apperently Walz did get caught drunk driving once, but then stopped drinking entirely. Which reading between the lines sounds like he had a drinking problem and used that ticket as a catalyst to kick the habit entirely, which if that is the case, I have mad respect for him breaking that addiction. Addictions are hard to break

I'm really not aware of any way to see what is or isn't actually running on your phone at any given moment. It sucks because it really does send you on a wild goose chase and leads to a lot of unnecessary ewaste when people replace their phones not knowing they just need to get rid of some apps to sort their battery life

Try to take a couple of minutes to look up at the sky every day. Whether it's pretty clouds or a cool plane or the moon and the stars. Seems too many people end up missing what's right over their heads

On android its actually weirdly difficult to tell what apps are or are not causing battery drain, especially on Android 8 and newer (android 7.11 had the best battery usage graph of any android version, it would even show all of the "wake time" in comparison to screen time so it was very easy to tell if it was doing stuff in the background a lot) My understanding is that if the apps are going through the Google Play Services APIs to do stuff it won't show up on your battery usage graphs.

It also doesn't help that the square button just shows you the "recent apps screen" where it shows apps which you've used recently in chronological order and may or may not have a state saved in memory/swap and may or may not currently be running in the background.

So basically, Android annoyingly just does stuff and you have to trust it. And if you're getting extra battery drain, seriously try Safemode and see if it drains noticeably slower in Safemode. Or factory reset and be slow about reinstalling apps to see if you notice a change when one gets installed

I feel this. I recently hit 10 years on my steam account and kinda came to the realization that "I've spent thousands of hours in some of these games and what do I have to show for it?" So I've been cutting back on my time gaming, and trying other things.

It sucks though because video games are one of the cheapest hobbies. Spend about $500-1000 on a decent gaming computer every 3-10 years then $20-40 here and there on games as they tickle your fancy

But I've developed a joy for fitness which is cool. I started biking and on March I struggled to make it around the (very hilly) 1/4 mile block but now I'm biking 8 miles a day.

Anyways I'm looking at the finances and barring some unscheduled catastrophe, I should be good to start a more expensive hobby actually making stuff next year...I hope
