I fucking wish! Despite my profession and hobbies all being very technical I have never had a partner that knew anything beyond turning it off and on again 😭. I'd be eating them out like a bulldog with a jar of mayonnaise every night if they did! Though I guess I would do that if they didn't too....🤔

I may need to rethink my approach....

I am wanting a macro pad for work, but we are not allowed to install software on them and even the websites we have access to is limited. I don't want to have to use my personal computer or take the pad home whenever I want to make a more complex macro and am wondering if there are any where the keys can be configured using a configuration file stored onboard?

Barely. Manchin and Sinema kept torpedoing just about any legislation that would have been actually beneficial. Though with this specific topic it appears that eight Democrats voted against it, which is still far fewer than the number of Republicans that voted against it.

That's not to say I'm some Democrat apologist or shill, I have so many problems with the party, but for issues like these it seems like they are the lesser of two evils and if their majority margins could increase it would likely have an effect on issues like these.

The super duper shitty thing is that they could have canceled it by opening the Run dialog box and typing "shutdown -a", so it's not even like canceling wasn't an option. M$ just decided to be dicks about it

I'm writing this comment on a Fairphone 5 right now and it doesn't feel sluggish at all.

It doesn't seem to me like the increased performance of phones has had much effect on the actual experience for a while if gaming or content creation is not done on the phone. As a daily driver I think this phone will last me a while.

I could be wrong, but the reason I'm annoyed with her specifically isn't because of the use of private planes (I am annoyed by it, but that isn't specific to her). I'm annoyed with her legally harassing the person that made a bot that used publicly available data to track her plane(s).

That's why I am specifically amused by these posts, not sure if it's the same for everyone.

Considering our obesity rates, quite a lot!

That shit is the most infuriating thing ever to me. It seems like so many technical discussions and communities are going to Discord now where that information is not indexed or preserved. How many issues have I had where the answer was sitting on a Discord server that will never appear in any general search result?

What kinda bothers me is that I recognize that something like YouTube is expensive to run and just switching to an alternative isn't super feasible. I would be more than happy to pay for a service like YouTube that I use everyday. HOWEVER, not with their bullshit double dipping. If I am paying a company like Google to use their services, I don't think it's unreasonable that their should be an expectation or mechanism where that means I am not just no longer served ads, but that all tracking and data collection about my account(s) are stopped.

That's never going to happen though :/

Since the acronym for sociopath is ASPD, I will often respond with something like "nuh uh, mine has one less letter". Pretty niche, but when someone gets it, so good.

I'm not sure I would go that far. I largely agree with the GN video, but I would not call Linus a piece of shit. There are a number of things I disagree with Linus about on a fundamental level, but he is still just a slightly awkward nerd with methed up squirrel energy at the end of the day. As Steve notes in the video he is basically responsible for the livelihood of 120 people, I'm sure that puts a little bit of stress on a person. That being said it doesn't absolve him of what has been happening, and his current path seems deeply misguided.

I'm glad to see GN put a piece like this out. I like LTT, enjoy a fair amount of their content, and I even like Linus as a person for the most part (from what can be seen publicly, no one is perfect and maybe he eve sucks IRL, I don't know), but I have had a number of issues with some of Linus' "takes" and the quality of the content that has been put out.

I think Linus is better than a lot of people I have met in recognizing certain biases, but he still has them and he will sometimes dig in on certain things rather than even acknowledge the what or why of the other side of the argument (a good example being the "trust me bro" stuff).

A personal critique I have of a lot of their graphs and charts is that the colors often don't make any sense, nor are they very color blind friendly. I'm not myself, but I do generate a lot of graphs and such in my professional life and I think it could be done in a lot better way.

Then again who cares about what I think, I'm just some rando on the internet.

I am curious to see if Linus watches the whole video before he responds. He does have a tendency it seems to just ask for a summary or to just kinda scrub through and not pay attention.

I was just coming in to question the use of the word "escape". Such sad bull shit.
