Hello,

I'm planning to upgrade the Hosts of Mordor deck and would like to know if you guys have any suggestions.

One thing i'm planning to do is to try to use only cards from the set for two reasons: to keep the flavor and also to not increase too much of the power level. Or, at least, use very little cards that aren't from the set.

Also, it seems to be a good idea to replace Sauron, Lord of the Rings with Sauron, The Dark Lord as a commander and i plan to do it.

I'm going to play tomorrow too, it's going to be my first pre release, but have played MTG since my teens.

I've done some research and reading online for tips and come to the conclusion that all i can plan for is to simply have fun. There's simply too much variables to assure winning

However here are some tips, i've found that can maybe help us out: 1 - learn the basic rules of the format; 2 - study the set, it's cards and new mechanics; 3 - build you deck with an strategy in mind and don't mix stuff up too much, focus on one strategy and keep in mind that it's a fast format, so try to add a lot of lower costing spells and fewer higher; 4 - When building your deck look to build around rares and mythic rares you'll get on the boosters, because they normally are stronger then commons and uncommons, but also watch out for the 2 recommendation i made, there's some commons and uncommons in this set that are great.

Overall i recommend you to try and have fun and good luck tomorrow, may The One Ring be with you!

I think it should be something like this: As the ring tempts you, draw a card and you should choose a creature as ring bearer, else, lose 2 life; On the first turn the ring bearer has shroud and can't be blocked; the next turn the ring bearer still has those abilitties, but it takes -1/-1 , the next turn it has the ring -2/-2 and so on.

This way the player would have to try get as many "the ring tempts you" to draw cards and to choose another creature or lose that creature as the turns pass.

What is their power level, are they well balanced? Which one do you plan to buy?
