I dated a 5 year younger woman in my twenties for 5 years and while the age gap itself wasn't an issue to us or anyone else, what turned out to be an issue, was that she changed quite dramatically during those 5 years and we ended up growing apart. That's a feature of a young age though, not the age difference.

Thanks for keeping me up with the latest on Twitter and Elon Musk. I don't know how I even managed to live back when I went for months without thinking about either of these two.

I pity the people having to attend school during the social media era. I just managed to avoid it.

I didn't choose. Literally every single person with a smartphone in my country uses whatsapp so that's what I use too.

Maybe we don't need to round every sharp corner we can find. I doubt anyone is traumatized for life because there was a closet in the room as a child.

My current device and the two before that all have had removable batteries. I've always thought built in batteries are stupid and it's nice to finally notice that other people agree. Hopefully they next mandate that it has to be able to be taken apart with a screwdriver and spare parts must be able to be purchased straight from the manufacturer.

Wouldn't be surprised if the (mostly) political right that seems all these new pronouns as stupid would also ironically be against giving up on their own gender specific pronoun for a gender neutral one.

It's a steaming pile of garbage. When I click "maps" I'm expecting a map to open up. With google maps I'm faced with all kinds of menus and shit I never asked for that I need to start clicking away to uncover the map underneath.

To retire. I'm not even 40 yet but I dread going to work every morning. I don't even hate my work - I just don't feel like even the relatively good salary I get is enough to compensate for the lost time.

[-] [email protected] 33 points 11 months ago

This has been the case for atleast the last few years and for perfectly understandable reasons

Unfortunelately I will not tell that to strangers on the internet either

I'd feel the safest somewhere off the ground. Second floor of a building with the stairs blocked/destroyed or perhaps in a hammock high up in a tree. I don't think I could fall asleep knowing they could just sneak up on and grab me

I'm a bit torn between a splitting axe and a mace/morning star of some sort.

An axe offers better penetration and is useful for other tasks aswell but perhaps posseses greater risk of getting stuck. A mace is not as versatile but is highly effecive when making direct contact with the skull and is unlikely to get stuck. A mace is also easier to improvise and customize for individual preferences.

This is the niche topic I'm into and since nobody else has made a community for it I made one myself.

All related discussion is welcome: preparing, weapons, base location, vehicles, tactics, rebooting civilication etc.

My feed is currently being flooded with r/place spam that I could easily hide with a content filter like I did on reddit. Would be really nice to get this feature on the blocked-page.

This indeed is my bike and it's been like that all summer but I'm not actually concerned that it's going to catastrophically fail on me though it might. Already have a new set of tires but I'll try to save them for winter to save the new grippy tread pattern.

The extreme wear is most likely caused by running these at 4 - 5psi while it's way freezing outside.

Now with all the discussion going on about Facebook joining the fediverse and what to do about it many people seem to be advocating for defederating with them thinking that they're going to grab all your data and this is the only way to stop them.

I'm not especially educated on the subject but my understanding is that this is not at all what defederating does and also I don't think that's going to stop them from getting the little data that's here publicly available for anyone anyways.

I'm trying to get my head around the entire concept of the fediverse but it seems like there's very few people who actually understand how it works and these people seem entirely absent in these popular threads I'm reading.

This is probably a feature and not a bug but when I get a reply to a message and I click to see the context it takes me out of sopuli and logs me out. I think it's because it's on a sub that's on another instance but I'm not sure. Still trying to figure out this platform.

EDIT: Apparently clicking the non-colored context button takes me to the message but doesn't log me out
