JS is like a disease where it does not need to be. I would honestly welcome an Internet alternative that was all web 1.0 (with up-to-date security updates and methods). There's good uses for it in interactive websites that provide cloud services, but most of it is fud and breaks the whole notion of HTTP GET URLs you can just share and cache.

Thank you for deciding what was better for us, we would have been so wrong without you. /s

People complain about Russian troll factories, but hey, they are helping develop a reddit alternative so they can't be all that bad.

I can see criminals easily exploiting this default behavior to stop the car and steal from those inside.

Where's a Johnny cab when you need it, it knows how to deal with criminals.

A case of the quiet part being spoken outloud. That's my beef with nuclear energy as well - why? Solar power clearly work, and best of all, it isn't centralized. Same with wind power. It even works in circumstances you might have to shut down nuclear power plants due to excessive heat. You even have to worry about the increasing load on the grid because they are easier to distribute. It needs energy storage, and there's no shortage of means for energy storage.

Nuclear power plants are going to be charging you the same as coal plants for energy as long as they are owned by market tycoons. Nuclear power plants make the best sense in an ideal world where society matters and there aren't people gaming the market. We do not live in an ideal world.

A lot of those emulators, specially the SNES ones, make games better if not outright bearable. There's a lot of games that I could not have completed without spending an absurd amount of time on them without saved states. The Nintendo games out there aren't even exceptionally good, there are plenty of indie alternatives if people give them a chance. It's biggest plus is that the brand does act in a way many AAA publishers fail to do, an assurance of a basic degree of quality fun.

It's possible but reddit isn't the only one looking for engagement, so are individual users. If a site has more users, it has more engagement and content. It is also not impossible to drop the lemmy name when you do go back there to make people aware of the alternative.

So rather than allow subs to remain preserved while the replace the mods in place they will push subs to shit on themselves in this latest bout of enshittification.

But those lawsuits aren't at the federal level, they are at the state level, or so I understand. The secret service operates at the federal level. And if they are at the federal level, well, the Supreme Court has been stuffed and they've been pretty flagrant at expanding GQP corruption mechanics.

Oh no! You've got trapped in the first level of nested parenthesis! To get out, you need to go down two levels to where I was trapped, and here's the tricky part, you have to make sure you leave with the correct number of parenthesis and then you are out ok.

A good test for that was whether they would allow the inheritance of Steam accounts, but their staff said they wouldn't.

If I ever have to get a new one, I will madboi it with a monitor and DTV HDMI decoder.

[X-post, and trying out this sub]

It's also funny that rather than removing all of my comments, they just decided to remove those I referenced and one particular reply, meaning whoever they were they cared more about the narrative and making the conversation unintelligible so that in the framing that was left people could just fill in the gaps just based on the downvotes and the accusations.

Like I said to some people and now extend to the mod,

I love how people like you are the flip side equal of Trump people warping reality to shit on it. Same bullshit, both sides aren't equal but people like you certainly resemble them closer.

ITT, people who couldn't comprehend cult psychology (and given the inherent Stanford prison experiment abuse within it, any psychology) or even the inevitable conclusion of what they are claiming and accuse me for being ignorant of what I'm literally alluding to in the first comment.

Even supposing that there was some legitimacy to the removals, it's telling how selective it was and where it wasn't. And literally labeling nuance "trolling" in a circlejerk meme reddit ... probably makes sense. But still, imagine being so fragile the huge number of downvotes could not do it for you.

Some of you really want to divide society as much as MAGA does. My message didn't neatly fit into the circlejerk meme, so I guess I must be "trolling, or worse" - amazing.

I can also confirm, can't delete or edit the comments to provide context, but people can still vote on comments that have been removed. Huh, didn't think I'd find something like this reddit was so clearly better at. So now I guess I know why they decided to selectively remove comments and framed the thread into what has been left.
