As far as I know: Nope, EA and Respawn did nothing, the hackers just got bored. As of currently, it is playable with some errors every now and again, but if you want to play on PC you'll need a client called "Northstar"

A lot of Titanfall 2, no updates in 5 years doesn't make the game any less good.
