No, i wrote it.

I would llike to request the implementation of swipe gestures in boost for Lemmy to allow users to quickly and intuitively interact with posts and comments.

This feature would significantly improve the user experience by providing a more efficient and modern way to engage with content.

Specifically, I propose adding the following swipe gestures:

  1. Swipe to upvote/downvote posts and comments
  2. Swipe to share posts and comments
  3. Swipe to save posts and comments

Benefits

  • Improved user experience and engagement
  • Faster and more intuitive interactions with content
  • Alignment with modern mobile app design patterns
  • Competitive feature parity with other popular Lemmy apps

Implementation Suggestions

  • Add horizontal swipe gestures for posts in the feed
  • Implement horizontal swipe gestures for comments
  • Include customizable gesture settings to allow users to personalize their experience
  • Ensure smooth animations for visual feedback during swipe actions

Examples from Other Apps

  • Sync for Lemmy: Allows swiping on posts to vote, share, and save
  • Voyager for Lemmy: Implements swipe gestures for various post and comment actions

Potential Challenges

  • Ensuring gesture recognition doesn't interfere with scrolling
  • Maintaining accessibility for users who may have difficulty with swipe gestures

Conclusion

Adding swipe gesture functionality to boost would greatly enhance the app's usability and bring it in line with other popular Lemmy clients.

This feature would make content interaction more efficient and enjoyable for users, potentially increasing engagement and user satisfaction.

@threelonmusketeera

I also found this Lemmy Community as well:

I just applied for an account on Diagon, so I'll most likely br able to remake the communities once I get approved.

Probably start by (hopefully) getting some mods for the communities, and then work from there.

I wonder if to potentially advertise the Community(s) on the Lemmy subreddit on Reddit?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Lemmy/s/yUsmJE1jvo

Or if there is some kind of Bot that could potentially mirror content from their respective reddit subreddits?

At least until we get the Lemmy Communities up and running?

EDIT: I was in a hurry when I wrote this comment, and I didn't notice that you said that you had applied for an account as well.

lol

Hey everyone,

I recently started a couple of Harry Potter communities focused on various Harry Potter Ships, and I'm looking for some potential moderators to help manage them.

Drarry: https://lemmy.world/c/drarry

Hinny: https://lemmy.world/c/hinny

Hpharmony: https://lemmy.world/c/hpharmony

(More to come.)

If you're interested in joining the respective community mod team and helping foster a welcoming space for fans of these pairings, please post in the community that you wish to be a Mod of, explaining why you feel like you would be a good fit for Moderator of that community.

Thx in advance.

Thx. I'm writing them.

I know that it's HIGHLY unlikely to ever happen, but does anyone else wish there were MARVEL-style crossovers between different Harry Potter fanfiction universes?

For example:

I think it would be really fascinating to see the various interpretations and versions of Harry Potter and the Wizarding World colliding in a shared multiverse.

The potential for interesting interactions, comparisons, and storylines seems endless.

Even if it's just a fun thought experiment, I'm curious to hear if anyone else has imagined a "Potterverse" multiverse and what that might look like.

Let me know your thoughts.

I've been thinking about the potential for a decentralized, federated version of the new social media platform Neptune.

For those unfamiliar, Neptune is a rising star in the social media world that's gaining traction on Tiktok for its unique approach to content creation and distribution, especially given the whole TikTok situation.

__

Here's a quick overview:

What is Neptune?

  • A new social media app focused on decentralizing media
  • Empowers creators with customizable content feeds
  • Uses "ghost metrics" to highlight work without the pressure of visible likes/shares
  • Aims to foster genuine connections and community
  • Similar to TikTok but with a stronger emphasis on integrity and user control
  • Has gained over 5,000 sign-ups and built an active Discord community

__

The Fediverse Opportunity

Given the Fediverse's commitment to decentralization and user empowerment, I wonder if there's any potential to create a federated alternative that captures Neptune's best features while leveraging the strengths of the Fediverse, or would we just be basically remaking Loops by Pixelfed?

__

Some questions to consider:

  1. How could we implement customizable content feeds in a federated environment?
  2. Is there a way to incorporate "ghost metrics" or similar concepts to reduce social pressure?
  3. What existing Fediverse projects might serve as a foundation for this kind of platform?
  4. How can we ensure creator empowerment while maintaining the open, interconnected nature of the Fediverse?

I lack the technical skills, as well as the time, to tackle this myself, but I'm curious about the community's thoughts.

Has anyone considered a project like this?

What challenges and/or opportunities do you see?

Looking forward to hearing your ideas.

I was hoping to possibly share a few Questions that I had, regarding the PJO Universe.

__

Question One:

1. What would happen if a Demigod switched religions?

For example, what if a Greek/Roman/Norse/etc. Demigod refused the Gods of their birth religion, including their godly parent, and started believing in another religion, or decided to become an Egyptian Magician, or whatever, what would happen?

Would the Demigod's godly parent just switch over to whatever the equivalent would be for that new religion?

Or would they just be a Greek/Roman/Norse Demigod/Magician/etc. who happened to end up going to another afterlife when they die?

__

Question Two:

2. Another question that I have is: **What would happen if a Demigod tried to access "Mythology Specific" zones of other Pantheons? **

For example, a Greek/Roman Demigod, or an Egyptian Magician, or etc., attempting to climb the world tree, or a Norse/Greek/Roman attempting to enter the Duat, or Alfheim, or Helheim, or etc.?

Hello, community members.

I'm on the lookout for fanfics that explore the concept of Victor Von Doom's death and subsequent reincarnation as Harry Potter, but without any initial memories of his previous life.

I'd PREFER a story set in a merged Marvel and Harry Potter universe where both sets of characters coexist, but it also can be a story thats set ONLY in the HP Universe.

Additionally, it would be interesting if, later on, memories of his past life as DOOM start to resurface.

Any recommendations fitting this criteria would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hey everyone,

I've been pondering an idea thats been stuck in my head since forever and wanted to get your thoughts on it.

Has anyone ever considered the possibility of developing a line of code or a platform that runs on Activitypub that allows non-ActivityPub protocols to integrate seamlessly into the Fediverse?

Imagine a system where platforms like Bluesky, NOSTR, or other Protocol-based networks could "plug in" to the Fediverse.

This would effectively translate their unique protocols into ActivityPub, enabling interaction without requiring these platforms to adopt ActivityPub themselves.

Think of it like a tree: ActivityPub serves as the trunk, while non-ActivityPub platforms form the branches.

This approach could SIGNIFICANTLY expand the Fediverse and make it accessible to platforms reluctant to natively support ActivityPub.

As well as allow various platforms with different protocols to interact with each other, without the need to use "Bridges", "Mirroring", etc.

Don't get me wrong, im not hating on Ryan, Fedy bridge, etc., but services like those are basically using Sticking Plasters, Duct Tape, and Chewing Gum to try and stick together different platforms.

I find this idea interesting, but I lack the coding skills, time, and energy to pursue it.

I'm curious if any developers or tech enthusiasts here have ever thought about, or worked on, something similar.

What challenges do you foresee, and could this be a viable path for potentially expanding the Fediverse?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas.

With the looming TikTok ban in the U.S., has the community—creators, users, etc.—settled on a potential platform to migrate to?

The last thing we need is everyone scattering across a dozen apps.

If we want to preserve the vibe, trends, and community connection, it’s critical to have a clear alternative.

So, what’s the consensus (if any) on the best option:

Instagram Reels?

YouTube Shorts?

Clapper?

Lemon8?

Neptune?

Loops by Pixelfed? (Part of the Fediverse)

Something else?

Does anyone know if there are any Fediverse equivalent/alternatives to platforms like:

  • Wattpad
  • SquidgeWorld Archive
  • Archive of Our Own (AO3)
  • FanFiction.Net (FFN)

etc.?

If not, has anyone ever considered potentially creating one?

I personally think that it could be a great addition to the Fediverse ecosystem, allowing writers to share their work in a decentralized manner.

Some potential names for such a platform could be:

  • FediFics
  • FediPad
  • FediFan
  • WriteVerse
  • FediFiction
  • StoryNode
  • TaleChain etc.

Perhaps use "FediFiction.net" (or "FediFics.net", "FediFanFiction.net", or "FediFan.net") as the FFN Fediverse Alternative, and "FediPad" for Wattpad?

IDK.

I would consider developing this myself, but I not only lack the time, I also don't have any coding ability.

However, I personally believe that this could be an exciting project for someone with the right skills and interest in both the Fediverse and creative writing communities.

Hey everyone,

I was curious on whether anyone has ever thought about potentially introducing a Fediverse equivalent to platforms like:

  • Ko-fi
  • Patreon
  • Gumroad
  • LiberaPay
  • Buy Me a Coffee
  • Web Monetization (e.g., Coil)
    etc.

What I’m imagining is a decentralized platform that allows users across the Fediverse to directly tip or support creators, all without relying on plugins or third-party integrations.

For instance, I know that creators on platforms like PeerTube can add plugins for cryptocurrency or payment solutions, but these require additional configuration or technical know-how.

What I’m suggesting is a straightforward tipping platform built directly into the Fediverse ecosystem, one that doesn’t depend on plugins—just a seamless way to support creators on ALL Fediverse platforms.

__

To clarify upfront:

  • I am NOT a “crypto bro.” I’m not here to promote any cryptocurrency or blockchain agenda—I’m just thinking about user-friendly, decentralized solutions.
  • While I AM open-minded about crypto-based approaches, I feel there’s potential for a non-crypto, user-first Fediverse tipping system.

__

What do you all think?

  • Has this idea been explored?
  • Are there any projects in the works that aim to address this?
  • Do you think it’s feasible or even a good fit for the Fediverse ethos?

__

I’d love to attempt something like this myself, but sadly I personally lack the time, technical knowledge, and energy to make it happen.

Still, I’d be really curious to hear the community’s thoughts.

Thanks in advance for sharing your insights.

Ave, fellow demigods.

I've been pondering the extent of Nico di Angelo's abilities, particularly around his unique connection with the dead.

As we know, Nico, being a son of Hades, has a profound link with the Underworld and possesses several powers related to death and the dead.

However, I've been curious about two specific potential abilities and would love to hear your thoughts or any insights you might have.

__

1. Sensing How Someone Died Through "Death Energy"

Firstly, do you think Nico could "Sense" how someone died?

The idea here is that the more recent the death, the more "Death Energy" exists, and Nico could use this energy to envision the victim(s)' final moments.

Kind of like Psychometry, but with a unique Underworld twist.

This concept isn't explicitly mentioned in the Percy Jackson series, but given Nico's deep connection with death, it seems like a possibility.

Could this be an extension of his powers we haven't seen, or perhaps something that could develop?

2. Temporary Revival à la Jonah Hex

Secondly, drawing inspiration from the 2010 movie Jonah Hex

where the protagonist can temporarily bring the dead back to life for a limited time just by touching them, as well as force the ghost to speak truthfully, do you think Nico could potentially have a similar ability?

Imagine if, by touching someone deceased, Nico could bring them back to life but ONLY for a couple of minutes, and ONLY as long as he maintains physical contact.

Once he stops, they would return to being deceased.

Another character who has a similar ability, but with hearts instead of touch, is Enoch O'Connor, from the series Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

https://thepeculiarchildren.fandom.com/wiki/Enoch_O%27Connor

This ability would certainly have its limitations but could be incredibly useful for gathering information, or for saying final goodbyes.

Both of these potential abilities raise interesting questions about the limits of Nico's powers and how they could evolve.

__

What do you think?

Are these abilities too far-fetched, or do they align with the potential growth of his character and powers?

Could there be instances or hints in the series that suggest these abilities are possible?

Looking forward to hearing your theories, insights, and any information you might have on this topic.
