Is it general gibberish or is there a fuck reddit gibberish? That would be fun.

I’m new here too and keen to see what my other crafters would like to see here. Who fancies joint this adventure with me.

I’ll start with something I would like to bring along. I am gonna make the effort to collate some good craft tutorial sites and forums. Shine a light on those who take the time to show others their creates and skills.

So what would you like to see? Or what could you bring?

Crochet is my second. Currently between homes, my pencil case of hooks and some balls of wool are easy to keep close and take my mind off everything.

For me its sewing, I come back and forward, and its just so adaptable.

I am just on crochet at the moment moving house and everything is in storage. I have been dying some yarns and bleaching some yarns though to make something new from something I don’t like.

I think some low energy crafting and reusing. I have found in recent years Insta etc has made crafts and creative tinkering into a competition for perfection. I like tinkering making etc for relaxation, and not out buying more crap to fill my house. There are still plenty of forums and blogs out there too it’s just tough trawling through all the crap. Plus sometimes it’s good to have a place to just throw out a question. Has anyone tried this? What was the result etc.

Been and deleted every post and comment manually. Do I need to do anything else?

I have been thinking of starting something up. Is there a guide? Mines pretty boring but I might attract a few other simple craft geeks.

It feels inevitable. You stay sane and protect your inner peace. I am in the camp this is not left/right old/young this is rich playing with the poor. There are far more of us and we have a lot of common language.

Agree. It’s easy to feel disheartened by the lack of action. It’s easy to say get out and do ABC, however since smartphones and apps it’s been so easy to just hop on and scroll/consume. Plus the monetisation of content creation has captured a whole generation looking to build a career (fuelled by more apps to help them). Sharing and creating is big money now. It’s not just about saying hey look I did this just incase anyone else wanted to try it, and share there thoughts on the matter. I have concerns that even if forums popped up in a new shape they would just get scalped by those looking to repackage and sell the info.

I have been questioning in the last few month what can i do, i agree, the old internet is not the way, but for me tech and the internet has become a dirty word and somewhere i no longer want to be.

I have become quite conscious of my where my money goes, i also probs need to be more conscious of where my internet traffic goes and where i can support grassroots (online) communities.

I am trying to consume less in my life and also spend a little less, because one of the few voices I have is spending and its better in my bank than a corps. I have been trying to either buy used, or buy better value items, and or avoid plastics etc.

I am stating to notice what can only describe as small barriers, I know its just inconvenience and habit but I am hoping for some suggestions that can help me overcome the hurdle.

As an example I have been trying to buy some new utensils, I would prefer nice ergonomic ones metal and wood. But when I try reviews there is so much sponsored/ click here to buy blogs. Its hard to find decent reviews, when tying to choose and under consume getting the right thing researching is an important step. Even then purchasing decent quality is dominated by big stores amazon/dept stores etc. I was looking at OXO good grips but they are still heavily plastic and they only have decent ranges in amazon or John Lewis. Its not about the utensils, its more the barriers inbetween. I have enjoyed these conveniences that have now trapped me in a way.

Another example when trying to buy used items, it is so hard to do this without marketplace.

Anyone else feeling this?
