I really like the idea of a dedicated GPU when docked. Add a backup M.2 and it’s a winner. It has to “just work” though, that’s the major milestone.

This is truly awesome. I love seeing the work done in this space. An on premise baby cluster all in 2U is amazing. I wonder what the commercial opportunities are for something like this…pre-installed with K8s, fully networked via the backplane, storage-less or storage-full, etc. A single 10Gb link out for public access and / or cluster access to external storage. Speed up the cluster? Just decommission a node, slide the latest compute module in and provision it from the management control plane. I think I’d buy something like that.

Even if there’s a 10% difference in gaming, the longevity of the AM4 platform way outweighs the slight performance win on the Intel. The fact that the same board running the 3600 could have started with an R5 1600, and ended on a 5950 or 5800X3D is worth more than any slight generational win.

This was me, a poor high school teenager with the MX440 64MB trying to play Counter-Strike the best I could. All my rich friends had 9700 Pro’s or even 9800 Pro’s. The evening of my graduation open house, I took $200 of the money I got and went to Best Buy and bought an X700 Pro 256MB AGP. I finally had something that beat my rich friends, until they all got X850’s or 6800 Ultra’s.
