Public transit has been lacking in my city even before the pandemic. They are still paying off for a light rail system from a decade ago that they are not maintaining. Also all the ticket machines smell like piss, which should not be a surprised considering for years there's been some guy who has been urinating at almost all the station.

"like, scoob, ya can’t just say that!" -- Shoe0nhead on Twitter as Shaggy

I've been spending the summer learning how to play the guitar. Last month, I bought a lovely Sire S7 and I've been having a blast playing it and learning guitar chords and playing with the modes on the couple of portable guitar amps I bought (The Fender Magnum Micro and a Positive Grid Spark Go). I know those amps might not sound that impressive, but like I said I'm still pretty new at this and when I get better, I'll probably get an even bigger amp.

But that's not why I'm here today.

I was on the Ernie Ball website thinking about picking up some spare strings (because I broke my little e string a few weeks ago), when I noticed they had different pack of string sets with different strings that were other than the typical 10-13-17-26-36-46 set, but had other gauges of strings.

Surely, the width of the strings would result in different notes as much as where you put your fingers on the fretboard, right?

So what would I be gaining or losing if I used a different set up strings? (I'm not planning on re-stringing my guitar any time soon, but it would be nice to know the significance of these other sets, what they are used for, and if there was a specific set ideal for playing certain genres or playing techniques.)

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how the Fediverse works. I'm gonna stick with hanging out on lemmy.world to reach this group.

Also, to the midwest.social admin: Have you seen how many of those other reddit clones that do not cater to "leftists" turn in to Right Wing cesspools? Don't forget what happened to Voat! I think I'd rather hang out with a few "leftist" than hang out with an online community that lures people on the right that tries to swoon them towards fascism.

Just in time for the leopards to eat Sheriff Hee-Haw's face after he vetoed funding towards preventing flooding like what we got last year, there's a good chance that we could have another deluge this week.

While Governor Mike Parson certainly won't hold himself accountable for vetoing a bill meant to prevent flooding like what happened in University City, St. Peters, and Ellendale (that neighborhood along the River Des Peres near Maplewood and Shrewsbury), everyone effected by this potential disaster (and last years) certainly will.

Let's not take any chances and get ready.

Governor Mike Parson, a.k.a. Sheriff Hee-Haw, claims Missouri has an $8 billion dollar surplus. At least $2.8 billion of it will be used to widen I-70 in rural parts of the state. ("Just one more lane, bro.") Meanwhile, $550 million of state programs were vetoed including money that would have gone towards public schools, law enforcement, and urban flood prevention.

So why am I bringing up what is practically "last week's news"? Because in the St. Louis area, it's about to become this week's news as forecasters are calling for heavy rain on Wednesday this week...like 3 inches at least. So Hee-Haw is about to eat his words.

Pic is from an Area Forecast Discission on the NWS St. Louis website originally posted at 2:27 PM today.

We (by that I mean folks in the St. Louis Area) could be in for a world of hurt later this week and all we can do is see what happened last year happen again this year.

It's not a possiblity of "if" but "when". Similar situations occurred this last week in Oklahoma, Chicago, and the Hudson Valley area of New York.

So get ready in case it does happen.

Anyone remember the movie Middle Men (2009), a film based on Christopher Mallick's experience running an internet billing company that managed payments for paid porn sites? The film bombed at the box office, but there was one scene of interest which, in relevance to Haqqani's complaining is a good reminder as to why his complains about Meta are a moot point considering what happens to terrorists who use the internet. (Might be a little NSFW)

"I can't believe Meta would do this to us! Is it wrong for us to be a patriarchial homophobic anti-Christian, anti-Jewish group online without having someone tell us we can't be our true authentic selves? How dare Mark Zuckerberg do this to us! At least Elon will let us be who we are. Now if you excuse me, I have to to let the leopards at the Kabul Zoo eat my face." --Taliban Senior Leader

I was thinking about the Ocarina app, and how much it could be improved, when I though about another application which might not be able to be ported to Flipper Zero, at least not without some GPIO addition: LSDJ.

While I do like that there are so many RTTTL ringtones that were on RogueMaster's firmware from back in the Nokia days (Many of which need to be reorganized, renamed, and cleaned up by artist or genre), I think there is potential to port Little Sound DJ which has been used to do chiptunes in the style that could be done with the classic Gameboy. However, you don't need a Gameboy to use LSDJ. An emulator can be good enough.

At any rate, I'd though I'd bring it up. What do you guys think? Also, what other apps do you think should be ported to the Flipper Zero?
