I may be wrong, but while it's annoying to have to add each instance one by one, it's also a feature.
If your instance's users never access those other instances/communities, federating with them will only serve to increase the load on those servers, without any tangible benefits (other than not having to search communities once before accessing them).

If I'm wrong, please someone correct me :)

Have you tried using proton instead of just wine ?

Ok, figured it out.

For those in similar cases, you MUST first search the community in the search bar here. Searching [email protected] only returned this thread initially, but after a few seconds the community appears in the search results.

From there, the community will sync here and will be visible here, with new posts appearing over time (afaik it doesn't sync existing posts, only new ones).

Hope this clears up the process for the next persons in my position :)

If you are a EU citizen, you can send them a GDPR data removal request and they will have to comply, even if you can't delete your account manually.
