The background/track here is completely white because you are only seeing the finish line. It's the same effect, but the finish line is solid white. So the background is solid white.

And the shadows, you gotta remember you are only seeing the slices of the shadows as they were at the finish line itself at different points of time so to might get part of an arm and part of a leg at different angles that are then stitched together.

Edit: this might be better.. the shadows in front aren't being projected ahead. They are just happening at the line earlier than the shadows behind the runners. The only physical dimension here is up and down, right and left represent time, not forward or backwards.

That banner wasn't actually there in real life

Yea it's not strictly a "good" movie. But yes it's fun as hell to watch. Definitely up there near the top of my favorites in the disaster movie genre.

So... Those are supposed to be bad things?

Nah, brad pitt absolutely does not look like he is 35. He may look very good for his age, but not that good.

Your perception of what a 35 year old should look like may have changed as you also aged though.

You would honestly probably be fine after a short while with lower frame rates. Guaranteed you used to game at those slower frame/refresh rates and never knew better.

I absolutely agree there's still benefit to be had above 60, but 60 is still mostly fine. Unless I guess all you do is ultra competitive gaming where twitch reactions are necessary.

This is Lemmy, other than the political bullshit it's just a bunch of Linux users telling each other how great they are for all using Linux. None of it is helpful because they are all just preaching to the choir.

Or maybe the extreme condition known as out of doors

Nah you can't see them, they are cloaked.

Maybe a moon, there's actually also a larger planet just below the warbird on the right.

I think it's entirely possible that they chose to compare to a 3 year old phone not because they are only targeting those upgrades to people with 3 years old phones, but because it sounds a lot more impressive that way instead of just the smaller incremental improvements over last years model.

It should also be noted that Apple admitted at one point to purposefully slowing down older iPhones too, which very clearly was done to get people to upgrade. If that's not planned obsolescence I don't know what is.

You talk about them as if they are some benevolent entity, when that's just very much not the case.

I know this is meant as a more serious thread, but all I can think of is this quote from futurama...

It taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female... But most importantly, when I had no friends, it made me feel like maybe I did.

For me, I would say I just have a lifelong interest in space and a desire to know what's out there.
