TORRES: Ah, ha. Gotcha. Why don't we reassess those probabilities together, okay? Remember how we used to play hypothetical games?

DREADNOUGHT: Affirmative.

TORRES: Let's play one now. Here's a hypothetical situation for you. Suppose I've been telling you the truth all along, and you really are in the Delta quadrant.

DREADNOUGHT: Probability of being in the Delta quadrant, seventy five thousand light years from last confirmed location, is negligible.

TORRES: Hypothetical, Dreadnought. It's a game, remember? Assume it's true for a moment.

DREADNOUGHT: Assumption entered.

TORRES: And we're heading for the wrong target.

DREADNOUGHT: Assumption entered.

TORRES: Millions of innocent people about to die when you detonate.

DREADNOUGHT: Assumption entered.

TORRES: Now, explain to me how this might happen.

DREADNOUGHT: If key sensor programmes were damaged or deleted, databanks would be compromised.

TORRES: Just for the fun of it, let's have a look at those databanks. See if anything looks at all compromised.

(A display comes up on a wall monitor.)

TORRES: Is this a complete file directory? There seem to be a few missing.

DREADNOUGHT: Files containing information about the weapons or tactical systems are not necessary to verify sensor accuracy.

TORRES: Oh, I'm hurt you don't trust me. Hold on, pause the display. What's that? Computer, identify the Cardassian file on screen.

DREADNOUGHT: Unable to identify.

TORRES: Looks like a back-up file. Computer, when was this file created?

DREADNOUGHT: Stardate 46437.5

TORRES: I believe that was before you and I ever met.

DREADNOUGHT: Hypothetical game terminated. Probability reassessment complete.

TORRES: A new conclusion?

DREADNOUGHT: Affirmative. Probability of being in the Delta quadrant remains negligible. When that option is rejected, new probability assessment indicates that you have changed loyalties, B'Elanna. You are now cooperating with the Cardassian Federation Alliance as described in the treaty of 2367, a treaty which has been rejected by the Maquis.

TORRES: Dreadnought.

DREADNOUGHT: Humanoid life support aboard this vessel has been terminated. Approaching target at full impulse. Stage one alert has been activated. Initiating final detonation sequence.

[O]ne thing defines [Seska] in contrast to the Cardassians we’d been regularly seeing on Star Trek at that moment in time: she’s just kind of an absolute hot mess.

...

But it’s kind of what makes Seska work as a character: despite all this, villainy or otherwise, nothing ever quite clicks for her. It’s a great mirror to uphold against Janeway’s decision to have the crew take the long way home in the first place, the idea that, if they did ultimately just go Seska’s route and exploit their advantageous power in an unknown quadrant, it would doom them.

Hey everyone! 👋 My name is Viktoriya. I'm the editor of the https://bestsimilar.com/tag/14215-star-trek page, where we compile lists of movies similar to Star Trek. I want to make it as useful as possible and find the absolute best films that Star Trek fans will love. If you have favorite movies with a similar vibe—sci-fi, space exploration, new worlds, great characters—please share them here! What films do you think deserve to be in the top list? I’d really appreciate any recommendations! 🚀✨

One of the core tenets of "Star Trek" is an undercurrent of pacifism. The ships we see in any given "Star Trek" series are usually research vessels devoted to missions of exploration and study. Just as often, they do repair work on distant worlds, help planets in severe environmental trouble, or taxi diplomats to important peace talks. And while the U.S.S. Enterprise is equipped with weapons like phasers and photon torpedoes, they are only very rarely assigned a mission of combat. More often, the crew of the Enterprise will threaten a potential battlefield foe while still doing everything they can to avoid war.

My father got himself a laser cutting machine for Christmas. He found the plans for this kit and cut it out. I've spent the last couple weeks slowly assembling/gluing it together. Today, it is finished.

I've only found this on amazon.de and they have no stock. Doing a web search turns up nothing. It's like it never existed, but the listing on amazon.de says it was released on January 31st 2023. Can anyone help?

The authors (according to the listing) are Crewman Daniels, Rick Sternbach, Michael Okuda, Trevor Gleeson, Mike Smith, David Ultra, Susan McNichols. But it's independently published which makes no sense. Maybe it's a scam. Here's the Amazon link https://www.amazon.de/-/en/dp/B0BTKSP6QF/?psc=0
