Where I live, if I took transit my twenty-ish minute commute would become an hour and thirteen minute commute according to Google maps.

NTA as other mention the only reason I could think for a reaction like that is because of the surprise at how much chocolate was eaten. Still though, nice gesture OP! I would be as confused as you.
It looks like someone went through a lot of effort to pose a horribly stuffed animal!
