Philips Ambilight 55PUS8109 4K LED Smart TV

Runs on TitanOS

Upvote because it made me angry.

I’ve come to the point where at least some people come to me for advice on buying electronics.

Girl friend asked me for a TV to connect with her PlayStation, not that expensive, 4K/60 and low input delay for casual gaming, and it should last for at least 10 years and should be cheap. Long story short, I got her a 4K/60fps TV with a gaming mode that has like 2~3ms delay for € 550. It‘s a dumb Philips TV running Linux, so no google play and you can remove all spyware. It has apps, but she got the PS to do all of this anyway.

I don’t quite think that there’s a name for this genre (yet?) but I’ll take this opportunity to blast out my favorite story-focused game serieses

Xenoblade is a nice fantasy RPG if you really like Storytelling! And all 3 core games are available on Switch!

Generally speaking, Xenogears and Xenosaga have amazing stories too, but Xenoblade got translated and dubbed waaaay better

Edit: just thought of this the last couple of minutes, and, if there was a name for this genre, it would spoil the whole game/movie/book for you! Imagine watching Planet of the Apes for the first time (it’s old by now and I hope there’s no one here who didn’t watch it already) and exactly knowing what planet it is

I got myself a Mac for learning SwiftUi because I want to make an iPhone game. I got myself a used 16/256 M1 Air model that has 2 USB-C ports and that’s it.

This made me create a workstation, where I have a high quality Thunderbolt 3 dock that works with DisplayLink, so I can have up to 4 external displays on windows and 3 on my MacBook Air. On this dock, I have connected 2 monitors, a mouse, a keyboard, a webcam, still have some USB A and C ports free to use. Best thing is that this dock has a micro SD and a regular SD slot!

All this through a single USB-C cable!

I want to connect my work HP Probook to this setup? Just plug the USB-C cable in and all comes to life!

I want to connect my gaming-PC? Just plug the USB-C cable in the Thunderbolt slot of the Graphics card and all comes to life!

Oh, I want to connect my USB-C emulator console, iPad, Tablet, etc. to the monitor, or the USB-stick? Or the Ethernet ? Just plug it in!

Basically I got my single cable workstation, and all that because of Apple removing useful at-home-things from a on-the-go device

The package gets weighed before sending and after receiving. There were a lot of articles years ago speaking of people who put stones in the package and sent it back, received the money and someone else got a package with rocks

Wait they charge 60 $ for dragon quest 3???

I played the Orginal on NES (rom) and it was a grindfest, so basically 90% of the play time is grinding….

I want her to make more than I do. Like a lot of more money than I do.

I like to keep the house clean because I have high cleaning standards, so I have it clean before the women even think about cleaning, washing the clothes, etc. I even love cooking, I consider it a hobby, but a woman that works less and does less in the household than I do is nothing more than work for me, worse than a child. And her making more money than I kind of justifies to me that she doesn’t need to do anything in the household.

Oh! And she needs to tell me at least sometimes what she wants to eat.

Oh, and she gotta be okay with me not being able to be happy or sad for her, it’s nothing personal, just a thing about being on the psychopath spectrum lol

I know this is an old post, but I prefer warm, breathable jacket + umbrella.

It feels like those water proof + breathable coats stop breathing after being wet, then I sweat like crazy.

Dragon Quest 8 - The Journey of the Cursed King

I‘m finally doing the fists only run I wanted to do 15 years ago! I even named the Hero "meFisto“

  • Click = left click
  • ctrl + click = Right click
  • seperate clicks without ctrl found in settings
  • 1 finger double tap = zoom in/out
  • 1 finger swipe up/down = scrolling
  • 1 finger swipe left/right = back/forward
  • 2 Finger swipe left/right = switch between desktops
  • 2 finger double tap = mission control

That’s about all the functions.

Totally! I got my old mouse a profile set up to navigate the UI way better than the mouse itself.

No. You only have left click. In the settings you can make right side = right click and left side = left click. You can’t even click left + right at the same time.

But it’s innovative!

I know it’s garbage, but its sole purpose is to be used by the left hand while the right is doing numpad stuff - and I’ve tried alternatives :(

In my asklemmy post (here: https://lemmy.world/post/20013379) I asked if anybody could help me because the mouse just does not glide well on my mousepad, while the 10 year old gaming mouse does glide.

The answers were pretty good and something I looked into. Then, I was just like "what if…" and put regular tape on the mouse, just to test it… and… it glides!

I‘ve recently bought an Apple Magic Mouse to have a mouse for my left hand while working. My main mouse on the right is my trusty SL Prime-Z DW. This one glides around the mousepad like butter in a hot pan. My totally new Apple Magic Mouse however drags like dry-fried chicken. My mousepad is the size of the whole desk, so it’s the same mousepad for both mice. The other mouse I had was gliding just fine, but buttons don’t work with my left hand so I settled for this one. And no, I don’t plan on putting a Trackpad there, the trackpad is below the keyboard (I need it to better move the camera)

Do you have any tips as to how I can make this mouse glide better?

Has anyone of you stumbled upon any information on how to get it running on machines like mine, or does it just not have enough power?

Close its mouth at the speed of light?

Close its mouth at the speed of sound?

Close its mouth faster than the speed of light?

Also… wouldn’t it be heavier than the galaxy itself? So it would create its own gravitational pull that’s like extremely strong?

For anyone wondering: all AppleWatches older than the S6 Chip are being cancelled, basically Series 5 and below is dead.

Well then, farewell Series 3. You’ve been a great companion since 2017. I will enjoy the time we still have together, until you finally decorate the rainbow arm when crossing into the big drawer up in the skies. May you be reunited with the Series 0.

I've watched the keynote and read some stuff on the internet and I've found this video about a dude talking about the new update (I linked it here because if you didn't see the keynote, this is probably enough)

Is it just me, or... does no one address that Apple does a Microsoft move by basically scanning everything on every machine and feeding this into their LLM?

Does it make any difference (quality-wise and input-delay-wise) if I use a DisplayPort to HDMI cable directly or a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, followed by a regular HDMI cable?
