I'm guessing most of the Beehaws at least have duplicates since they cut themselves off.

Do you have the ability to request new books in your library so that that way you could get things you are into? There's also always shadow libraries.

Dude I had no idea implants for chickens existed that's insane. If I ever got chickens we would be matching.

You're probably right - the inflation rates were low for a long time so to get that high from indexation on a 100k loan would be pretty unlikely.

Heresy but I'd eat them if I had rescue hens that weren't interested in eating them. Would probably feed them back their shells though.

Probably medical degrees etc. However, if I were to do a masters in CS it would be 70k so my total debt would be up to something like 110k. Thus, if I do a masters it will be a cheap US-based one I can cashflow because that's just a stupid amount of debt.

Yeah I assume the reason there isn't is because the general ones are US-centric by default and then everyone else has to have somewhere specific to go. But I guess if they want their own dedicated place too why not?

I use it primarily as a recipe book since markdown does that format pretty well.

I'm lucky my brother and a couple of friends are on a similar journey and go to the same gym at the moment. On the grind as soon as I get back from Thailand (Thai food is too good to calorie count.)

We're paying them to produce this pollution.

What books/comics/mangas etc. Did you read in June?

Britons’ trust in politics has fallen significantly since Covid, report finds.

Can't say I'm shocked.

The WoK was a 5 star read for me, WoR a 3 star and now I'm struggling to get properly into Oathbringer. I think I'm on chapter 10. Anyone else have this problem? Does it get more interesting or am I just not a Sanderson person?

Sometimes a post will say on Jerboa that there is one comment but on the post none is visible. Is this a problem with Jerboa? Is it because the commenter may not be federated with my instance? Or is it a problem with Lemmy?

Currently in Egypt and they just asked us to pay in USD cash for an added activity but, not being American, we don't have USD. We have the local currency and the ability to get that out at ATMs, but no way to access foreign currency. So annoying but they accepted local in the end.

How would you like to see this place differ from Reddit/TikTok/YouTube etc. as a place to talk about books?

X280 Won't turn on (lemmy.world)

Hi, my X280 just suddenly won't turn on. It was left on a bed alone so no physical damage. When plugged in the charging indicator is solid white after flashing white 3 times. I've tried turning it on with the battery out but plugged in. I've also tried draining the CMOS battery (unplugged CMOS and the battery and held the power button down for 10 seconds before plugging everything back in.)

I'm wondering now if it could be a problem with the power button? The laptop is dual booting Fedora 38 and Windows 11 if that helps and wasn't powered off but went into sleep/hibernation before this behaviour. Is it somehow stuck in sleep mode? I have had some issues with sleep to wake being slow/finicky before.

I have access to a screwdriver set and isopropyl alcohol. What would my next steps be?

Beehaw has decided to defederate from lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works. I believe it was already separated from lemmygrad. I think this makes this community the largest one accessible to the most instances whereas before [email protected] was. I guess we'll have to make the most of it!

I've created Calibre for the Calibre software and Hugo for the Hugo static website generator.
