Don't downplay the aeropress. A lot of serious coffee folks swear by it as their favorite way to brew a really good cup. Personally I found it to be a little fussy and in my hands less consistent than my pour-overs but I haven't tried it again in quite awhile, and as full disclosure, I had the aeropress Go which is a mini version and even more fussy as it requires doing some bypass work to get a normal size cup of coffee. For very faffy recipes like this it's super nice to have a detailed timed recipe and it makes it easy for people to adjust volumes and ratios to customize as well.
