It is, maybe, something very particular as I am not familiar with that term used through "Puritanical thingy". Sorry, I am located in Europe and lack of knowledge about Puritans 😬 [ANSWER RECEIVED]

Hmm... I like that, sorry. But, there is a little history behind that word.

An alcoholic mixed drink, and derived senses you will need to scroll down a bit to get to the alcoholic drink part.

If you want to go deeper about that word:

The earliest known use of the noun walkie-talkie is in the 1930s.

OED's earliest evidence for walkie-talkie is from 1939, in the San Antonio Express-News (San Antonio, Texas).

walkie-talkie

I do agree. That word is harsh to see, to hear. I have never liked it. Even between gays, I don't use it at all.

Ohh poor "like".... I must admit I use it a lot. Practical word.

I dont know, if the genre helps to shine. At least, I dont see that way. If someone says I write historical or non fiction. For me it is the same level. It is just a preference. Or maybe I am biased.. dont know...

For me, it is mostly the battle of how many words? It reminds me my KPIs loool (maybe, that is why.). If someone wants to write 100k fine, but even a piece of work of 1k can make a difference. Anyway. That would be a debate in another community....

So, imagination, I would say (to put it more...simple). Making up worlds thanks to some readings, or TV shows (for kids). I think when we were kids we were allowed to imagine anything. When you are an adult.... well.. I think we know 🫠

Sometimes, you can have some mood, not motivated, tired, or you just feel like. It happens, we are human after all. Well, you did progress. Just need to look back when you wrote your first word now. Even if it is just a tiny winy bit. It is still something 😀 And if I may. What are you writing about? Besides, that keep it up.

Because you are used to write maybe? (reference to: Having a true spark is rare for me.)

As for me, fantasy is creation, dream, escape; a canvas for the impossible. Just the creativity. Everything is possible. No limit.

What keeps you tapping keys at 2 am when doubt creeps in, when the coffee’s cold and the page is blank; what spark won’t let you let go?

What pushes us to write isn’t the promise of fame or fortune, it’s plain curiosity; poking at the unknown, asking “what if?” and watching worlds unfurl from a single question. What mystery are you chasing today?

From what I could see, there is no rules about that. I hope it is allowed. But, perhaps, to know each other or just your work. We could share a tiny bit of something that we are working on.

*To understand the extract: Fantasy, Mesopotamia, a King. *

*“What can go wrong?”

“War, you dead.” The General just spit out without any hesitation.

I let his blunt warning hang in the air, then smile calmly.

“War it is, then, if I hesitate,” I say, voice steady. “And dead if I rush unprepared. Neither outcome suits me.”

The Grand Vizier clears his throat. “Your Majesty, if I may, sending our best spy ahead would give us clear intelligence. We could learn a lot more in advance.”

I incline my head. “Agreed. Pair him with the priest. Let the priest cast his protections, and let our spy gather what truths the streets and the mountains whisper.”

The General’s jaw tightens. “A single spy cannot stop an ambush.”

“I do not expect miracles,” I reply. “Just a warning before I ride in. We will muster my guard only at the last moment, striking swift and sure. The locals will think I arrive unprotected; that illusion will be our shield.”

The Vizier and the General exchange glances. The Vizier nods. The General hesitates, then bows. “As you command, Majesty.”

I wave a hand, dismissing the tension. “Very well. Send the messenger and the spy at first light. Priest and two guards with them. We will move within few months. Until then, keep this plan close. No one else must know.”

They both bow, concern still etched in their faces, but obedience follows. I turn to the balcony, letting the cool morning air clear the weight from my thoughts. Babylon’s towers gleam in the sunrise. Ashur waits for me. Elam cowers in shadow. I touch my palm and feel Inanna’s warning stir within.*

I’m always fascinated by the little quirks that keep us tapping away at the keyboard or paper. For me, simple: A huge glass of water (sometimes, water is not inside.... dont know what happened.... ) 🤭 . And I look at my laptop for what... 10,20 mins.. like zoning out, thinking... what am I doing now?

Famous and infamous question. How do you cope with Mondays? Like really. Never happened to you that.... Mondays are just dreadful? Like today for me. I am usually positive but human after so, sometimes, it hits...

“Each nap is a portal. Do not disturb the traveller.” (Let sleeping cats and dreamers, lie.)

What is, for you, creativity?

Let's put aside AI please :) Just a bit inquisitive about what does that mean for you? (You can go crazy on the reply)

Creativity is creation. Creation from the imagination from our brain which helps to keep going on. Between dreams, inspirations, celebrations, sadness, love. Putting into words is easy sometimes. Sometimes is hard. Sometimes is too much words to put on paper or through HTML. Naively, I thought creativity was not caged. But, it is. Too much codes, boxes, rules (I understand that sometimes some basics rules can prevent upsetting situations.. we all know that). Putting words on a white paper (cliché) helps to vent out. It creates something new which I adore. It creates a new storyline which, sometimes, you do not know where it goes, where it should end.

Is it because we were brought up in a society which imposes a certain way? Or a selective society meaning this type of creativity is worth something but the others no ?

It’s facing the algorithm alone. It’s shouting into the void and still writing. It’s learning tech you didn’t ask for, with a budget that laughs in your face. But words matter. Even the broken ones. Creation matters. Imagination is still rebellion. And that’s enough.

Hey all,

I hope I can post my request here.

I recently finished and self-published my first fantasy novel. It’s a mythical-action kind of story, set in a made-up world where Light and Night are locked in an ancient struggle.

I know the writing isn’t perfect, that’s why I’m here. I’d love some honest feedback on the first 20 pages: pacing, clarity, style, anything that stands out. If you’re up for reading, I can share it via DM or a secure link.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to take a look. Really appreciate the time and critique.
