The US companies still pay quite more in Europe and not only the FAANG ones.

All these benefits come out of my taxes. The before taxes salary is still higher in USA for most people. Whether your government is inefficient is another question but your companies pay more even here.

Im aware one of the few ways to get some decent salary here is do contract work. Same job as regular employee but 2x the salary. Ofc no sick leave, etc.

Still US companies pay according to my union statistics 30-80% more and they cant go around the law.

I can see statistics of US companies vs non US companies where I am and they consistently pay 30-80% above market value. I havent seen one go below 30% over. Its not only FAANGS. They just pay much more

Not all do but these salaries simply dont exist here. Even when an american company hires in Europe they pay easily 50% over market. Stock is salary and most can be cashed out eventually.

Ive been using Memmy and Mlem and both are great. I think overall Memmy feels a bit more ahead in terms of features particularly after the latest few updates. The main think I miss in Mlem is the availability to zoom in on images and in Memmy a way to change font size.

So here's a simple diagram of the Gaggia: https://imgur.com/a/445X7xq It seems it would be the element 4 - coffee thermostat - that does everything. A quick google search shows that you can find some for like 5 usd: https://www.bluestarcoffee.eu/en/Gaggia-Coffee-Thermostat-107C/m-435.aspx. Note that they sell them with different setpoints therefore the whole thing must the the control and there should be some available with narower hysteresis bands maybe.

For me the font in compact view is fine but the font when you read a post or comment is a little too small for my taste and is harder to read as I need to focus a bit too much.

This shows why it should be a preference!

I think its not so much storage as it is requests I am worried. If a small instance wants to join and a few users subscribe to a few big communities then it needs to potentially proccess a lot of updates from the pubsub. I would imagine these messages are optimized so you get many updates within the same message but still.

Can the small instance be federated only one way? Meaning big can see small and comment in small but small cant see big communities (only comments made from big to its own small communities?)
