About 3 months ago, the EZ Flash Parallel was released in China, and more recently, the flashcart was released globally for all. Unfortunately, this cart has been plagued with issues like GPL violations, game compatibility issues and build quality issues. For the price, this is disappointing to see. Lifehackerhansol has a nice write up about it which I have linked here, any thoughts?

We now have a new site dedicated to flashcarts called flashcarts.net! This is where you can find the DS/GBA Quick Start Guides. If you would like to contribute and add more pages to the site, feel free to open a pull request/issue on our GitHub page: https://github.com/flashcarts/wiki

It's also strange that it happened twice, first with amazon links, then they started injecting affiliate data for crypto platforms instead.

Firefish instance probably crashed :p It's blocked by Easylist because they use Plausible Analytics - despite it being privacy friendly, easylist blocks it because it is analytics software

See here: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/comment/1375337 - This might answer your question!

I'll try to explain it from what I know/remember. fmhy.ml and fmhy.tk were backup mirrors of the fmhy wiki, though the UI on both of them wasn't great. fmhy.pages.dev is the new wiki with a theme by the weeb wiki!

They had those three sites as backup wikis, fmhy.ml got a facelift at some point so that UI is better, whereas fmhy.tk remained the same. Both fmhy.ml and fmhy.tk were taken down around the same time. fmhy.net was bought by the people behind fmhy, page looked like this for a while, then the fmhy.ml wiki was restored on fmhy.net. Now there's two backup wikis!

pages.dev is a domain owned by cloudflare, it's used to host the free cloudflare pages - you can't host a lemmy instance through that domain. fmhy.pages.dev is the newer wiki hosted on cloudflare pages. fmhy.net is owned by the people behind fmhy, they can add sub-domains to point to the Lemmy instance as it's owned by them as of now.

They made a private Calckey (now called FireFish) instance a while ago for Lemmy updates - whenever the instance would go down, there would be a post on the FMHY Calckey account. You can read about what happened here and what they are planning on doing about it: https://very.bignutty.xyz/notes/9hg4dquksvbha67h

Best case scenario is that they can get the fmhy.ml domain back, only if the Mali government opens registrations again. It looks as though they will be starting from scratch with fmhy.net instead.

Which names do the Ace3DS+ clones go by?

You can see a list of them on the flashcard-archive github: https://github.com/DS-Homebrew/flashcard-archive - Though most common ones that you will see floating about right now will be r4isdhc.com.cn, r4isdhc.hk 2020+, X in 1 Carts (unlabelled red carts too, though that's somewhat vague as there are unlabelled timebomb carts too), Ace3ds+ and Ace3ds X carts.

So the R4 Gold carts that can brick if you try to use YSMenu on the 2013 or older variants?

Yeah older r4isdhc.com carts (2013/no year number dual cores/"NEW" carts) like to brick when used with YSMenu. Instead, it's best to mention that 2014+ r4isdhc.com carts will use YSMenu.

But both the Gold and Silver (.com.cn) expire on 9/3/2024?

r4isdhc.com.cn carts are ace3ds+ clones, they don't have a timebomb and can't use YSMenu.

r4isdhc.com 2014+ and r4i-sdhc.com carts have a timebomb in their stock kernel which expires on 9/3/2024, though we now have a non-timebomb version - there are some issues with the stock kernel as mentioned in this post. Ideally, YSMenu is more stable, but the non-timebomb kernel can be used if people want to use RTS.
