Yeah, you're not winning points by becoming aggressive with the people who you want on your side.

This isn't Reddit, and that's kind of the point. I do want higher standards here and the way to make your point is with words, not slurs.

Bring receipts. Link posts if that's your thing, screenshots if you want.

I took a screenshot of what and who I found objectionable, which I am willing to share, however I won't post it publicly because it's (to me) hate speech.

I was browsing through /all and had the misfortune of finding a transphobic post from the site. Blocked user and community but if that's an indication of what they're putting out, hard pass on the rest of it.

It's a thing. There's nothing less attractive than having to play parent to an adult who can't pull their own weight in managing a household.

Can't recognize that a full trash can needs to go out without being told? Can't realize dishwashers that are full need to be run without reminding? Can't find where clothes need to go when they're clean?

If that workload is falling on one person most of the time, over time it can become a source of resentment.

When both people have full time jobs, it's like coming home to a second job.

I continue to vote for defederation.

Having looked at the instance in question myself and participated in the various conversations regarding defederation for them, I can see no valuable reason to keep federation at this point.

As late as yesterday I came across (and blocked) in my feed an account with a name from exploding-heads of ihate(trans_slur) that made its anti-trans purpose on their server clear. I would be glad to privately provide the screenshot of the account in question on request as I do not want to boost visibility or post hateful content myself.

There will always be ideas I personally do not agree with, that's fine. But it seems that this conversation around this one single instance has caused much trolling, many bad faith arguments, and has been at general odds at what I perceive the server is trying to accomplish.

The new information regarding botswarming is something I was not aware of until this post. I was monitoring the general posts regarding that type of content and supporting removal of bot instances, and that does add another layer to why defederation should be considered for this instance.

Mid level players? (self.marvelsnap)

I just hit pool 3 and am helping a friend who's still in pool 1 and just got (what I feel like) is a huge achievement in getting to rank 50 yesterday!

Most of the conversation is around endgame but are there other mids like me around?

Getting rank 50 was my goal so I could just mess around with decks and be a bit silly. I've tried on a lot of deck types, with ongoing being my favorite to date, but I got my achievement with a mix of ongoing and a few on reveal.

I'm wanting to experiment with Sif, Ghost Rider (lucky pull), and Infinaut in a deck but I've never been comfortable with destroy type decks at all.

Given that your account showed up immediately during the defederation of sh.itjustworks discussion and the removal of a certain account and community, I think the bad faith argument is valid.

I don't know but it seems that this particular community didn't exist until the dust-up regarding explodingheads and the discussions that have occurred afterward, including the Agora vote.

So, to me it seems that it was started in retaliation to that particular discussion/event.

The active user at the core continually changes their display name, making it more difficult to know that you're replying to the same person unless you're checking the account, as they only mod the one community.

That alone makes it bad faith or trolling, however you want to phrase it, and it seems both the user and the community are at odds with the overall environment that many users came to this instance for.

I think it actively hampers the conversation we were having with beehaw regarding refederation, and don't disagree with their observation in the matter.

Yes, we as users can block them. And?

Call it growing pains call it whatever you'd like but I think that ignoring the larger context behind why it's here and here now is missing the point of why "just block it as a user" isn't the ideal solution.

This is the way.

[-] Catpocalypse 11 points 1 year ago

Aye.

I had given my reasons previously, but I prefer not to platform bigotry.

If there was a way to reason against this kind of thing, reason could be used.

It can't.

[-] Catpocalypse 31 points 1 year ago

Given that one of the rules for the server is no bigotry, I would assume that extends to the ones we federate with from what I read.

Currently in the process of trying to befriend a chipmunk. Today friend chipmunk was comfortable enough to eat with me outside.

It was the best.

Bias of? I've read the indictment and it seems pretty straightforward.

Figured I'd stop lurking and pay my first cat tax. Not sure if I did this right but we'll see!
