Vice did a lot of very good, and generally in-moderate-depth reporting over the years. Hope an overabundance of people scrape that shit while we still have an opportunity. Once its hosted somewhere safe, you could probably even dump access to it somewhere like ... the fediverse.

If you don't want to parent your own son, there is someone out there willing to do it for you. They will not do a good job.

The Washington Times was founded on May 17, 1982, by Unification Church leader Sun Myung Moon and owned until 2010 by News World Communications, an international media conglomerate founded by Moon. It is currently owned by Operations Holdings, which is a part of the Unification Church movement.[9][10]

Since nobody mentioned it, I will. It has a cool, short and easy to remember name.

Curb appeal and convenience are extremely powerful drivers of human behavior. Moreso than time-consuming, complex, rational processing in a world of nearly infinite options.

Oh nononono you don't. A former republican supported by the Orthodox Jewish community, which is heavily associated with the right-wing Israeli settler movement?

Yeah, we'll be watching how he votes.

tbf, it's too specialized. They're heavy so they can hurt through armor, which makes them slow. Terrible weapon vs an unarmored opponent, who can more easily just get out of the way or stay out of your reach.

A spear is at least good everywhere but indoors.

Like, what is the absolute last medieval weapon you would ever want if you were fighting 3 unarmed guys? All fast, all know what they're doing. I'd say mace is solidly last.

Now, are they all wearing heavy plate armor like knights? Then mace becomes really, really good, it'll break your bones through that steel, dent the steel inward so it compresses your body and the joints stop working properly, all sorts of shitty things. And you're too slow to get out of the way.

source: I like maces.

Protip: If your thought process begins to sound like "either you're with me, or you're against me", you may be in the middle of the process of turning into a tv villain.

NTD.com, or New Tang News, is a Falun Gong-funded organization founded in NYC in 2001. It is owned by Epoch Media Group, the owners of the Epoch Times. It leans strongly right and does not check its facts. While still potentially capable of reporting true things, this is one of the least reliable sources out there.

... how do they find out which marriages do and do not fail? They generally don't take divorce photos too.

Oh god I've got so many.

My latest one is remembering that you can't really fight fire with fire, unless you're being extraordinarily strategic about it. Attacking bigotry for instance, simply makes it stronger, as it feeds off strife and fear themselves. Remembering why Michelle Obama said when they go low, we go high. Not out of any great preference, but out of a lack of viable alternatives in her situation.

You can't actually "fight" it. You can exclude it. You can corral it. You can trick it into running itself off a cliff. But you can't actually destroy it by combating it directly, because it feeds off the combat, just like Trump does. You have to outmaneuver it.

If there were 20,000 of this guy, we could get a movie.

You can pick any one character from Worm and save them from their death, that one time. They would continue in the story from there, potentially into Ward.

Who would you save, and why?

Dan is a novelist who writes his stories in settings well-researched to reflect our pre-history. Then he also makes various documentary videos summarizing his research. Archaeology, anthropology and history documentaries, usually on the shorter side.

With fantasy season starting up here soon, and hoping none of you are in my league, thought I'd share one of my best research sources.

This guy does breakdowns of specific players, plays, coaching strategies, etc, and is frequently one of the first guys to start noticing something. Once the season gets rolling and he starts getting more game film to work with, he's frankly amazing sometimes.

Covering only the original NES title, not the entire series, Andrew is going through each game in the series (he recently released the fifth installment) with a thorough, personalized breakdown.

It's quality work, check him out.

Bess combines hypnotic delivery and deft editing in thoughtful, reflective essays on, if we're being honest, mostly Higurashi. She approaches her work with a keen emotional intelligence though, drawing her listeners along the placid waters of her ... ah right, I just watched the Bess vid... Anyways, you get the point.

She's pretty good. And the Vocaloid story is interesting if you, also, had no clue who Hatsune Miku actually was.

I'm not sure why you think lemmy is full of Musk fans, but I think you'll find the guess to be incorrect. There's not a lot of Tesla drivers on here. I know that because for the most part, the only people that are here, are ones capable of doing a little research. Ones capable of doing a little research, probably won't buy a Tesla. People who do research on stuff definitely research their vehicles.

There's probably a handful of people that got the early generation stuff, but probably not many. Anyways, have fun.

This probably leans closer to some investigative journalism into Korean gamer culture, but I think it works very well as a window into some of the problems faced by not just Koreans, but other competitive gamers as well.

Some LoL knowledge is helpful in watching, he doesn't shy away from jargon. This is a gaming video for gamers.

I appreciate it as a self-aware jab at the nature of online communities in general, and it amuses me. Every human is a lemming in some way, shape or form, there's just nothing new under the sun so-to-speak. But by being aware of this tendency we can control our own behavior more consciously and effectively.

Gotta be able to laugh at yourself though, which is a capability that not everybody possesses.
