You got me thinking over here.

Perhaps it's a two way street, and both sides have changed.

It used to be that people wanted to suspend their beliefs for an hour and a half and live in a fantasy. I feel like most people look more for reality and relatability in cinema these days, but Hollywood is still trying to provide the escape.

It's just not lining up.

No. It'll be a digital exclusive for owners of the Legend of Zelda edition Switch 2 (non OLED that comes with a $200 premium) that also have a Nintendo Online subscription. And this, of course, won't drop until sales of the Switch 2 start to decline.

Bet on it (I hate what Nintendo has become).

I've been using a 3rd party client to access posts on Lemmy. I loved the experience back when Reddit allowed 3rd party apps. But I felt the feed was a bit........one sided.

I figured it was just because I was new to Lemmy, but then I sorted posts by New.

Nothing but trans anime porn. It's like the only people that came to Lemmy were the people that got kicked out of Reddit circles because all they could think about was trans anime porn.

Maybe I signed up on the wrong instance? But I don't think that's the problem.

How are so many people trying to treat Lemmy as a balanced alternative to Reddit?

What the fuck?!

When your base doesn't care about anything but checking boxes, leadership does just that.

I have friends that used to go to Disney 2-3 times a year. They did not live in Florida. They used to spend so much money to go multiple times a year.

They are now declaring bankruptcy.

Going to Disney is just keeping up with the Joneses.

Not serious?

I'm sorry that you have been made to believe that an expensive 3 day hospital visit is the one and only way that a human can give birth, but the fact is: that's just the most comfortable and convenient way of giving birth. That's why it's so expensive.

I would label the person who believes there is no way that a human can give birth to another human without recent medical advancements as "not serious".

How has this species survived for so long?

Pretty sure a human can birth a child for free.

Oh, you mean in a fancy hospital with modern conveniences developed by scientists to make the process as comfortable and hassle-free as possible?

Again, humans have been procreating, WILLINGLY, in conditions worse than anything you have or will ever experience because they WANT a child. They WANT to procreate.

Not wanting that is fine. Just stop blaming others.

It's always fun to see the many similarities between "progressives" and far right conservatives.

You guys are becoming regular SovCits!

~~realizing I'll never be able to afford them~~

realizing I'll never be able to afford them without sacrificing the slightest inch of my current lifestyle

FTFY

I don't fault you. You do you. Just stop blaming the economy.

People have been willingly having children through times tougher than anything you have or ever will experience.

You just don't want kids. And that's fine.

Just stop scapegoating the economy.

There it is!

You can always assume what kind of person brings dogs into establishments.

"I'm a paying customer, fuck you!! I'll do what I fucking want!!", is their mantra.

First, I would like to thank you for responding as you did. It wasn't just a dismissal of my argument, but an honest take from your perspective. That is rare to see these days.

I find it a bit interesting that you used the HVAC field as an example. I'm assuming that you are perhaps in the field and have felt some kind of sting in your day to day operation. If this is the case: I do feel for you, as I am in an adjacent field that has not felt any signs of recession. In fact, I have seen growth rather than loss.

I know this is probably not comforting, but I do want to punctuate that it is because I haven't felt the effects of tariffs in my daily life that I feel the way I do. As I stated previously, I drifted into the field I am currently in because I saw signs that I wouldn't be subject to getting laid off (I originally worked in a field that was happy to lay off half of their workers at the first sign of financial trouble). I saw the potential for economic turbulence and decided that a more stable field was worth more in the long term, even though I would be sacrificing higher pay.

Every move I have made was in the service of my family. Which is why I find it hard to sacrifice an inch in order to supplement the lives of other families.

I was trying to fix my Dad's PS3 (he recently passed away) nothing was working, so I connected the HDD from the PS3 into my PC. Upon plugging in the SATA cable, the entire PC shut off. I unplugged the HDD, but now when I power on the PC, the fans just run at max speed and nothing else happens. I don't know how to troubleshoot this problem.

I've never been able to afford such an up-to-date card. I know it's not the latest and greatest, but it's the best I have ever been able to afford!
