Funny! I read it as a Pokemon X Aztec reference with Rayquaza and Quetzalcoatl combined. Either way, it is a cool name.

Haha okay, I was starting to get worried that I would need to strip it and restart.

Thanks mate! Will do! I couldn't stop thinking about painting while at work today, this project has made me really keen to paint.

True, plus it is a lot easier to get to from Aus.

Thanks! And I know, but it was just a little bit of fun, the little hobbit hole was a decoration inside one of the houses.

It was 100% worth it. The pic was just an extra. Being a huge LoTR fan made the trip to Hobbiton our top priority on this holiday.

We walked through it and it was beautiful on the inside. Although they split you up into two groups and each group goes through one of the holes. I would have preferred the other as it had a bee/honey theme and I love bees.

Great quote! I loved the movies since I was a kid so it was a real dream come true to see Hobbiton.

Thanks! The shield was really fun to paint!

Yeah, I used pigment powder, but I have also tried using crushed up pastel sticks and that seems to work well too.

Good point! I had positioned it so it fit, but then I added the grass and realised I have covered the bit where it sits right haha.

That's a great point! I just found on my desk there was a little reliquary box with a red band around it that fell off the chain on his back, I think that but of colour would have helped break it up a bit.

The thing about making it black and white is such a good tip too. I will try that on my next one!

It took way longer than it looks like it would because I was glazing most of it and stippling. It looks quite textured up close like this but not from the table which is the main thing.

It was my first time trying an oil wash for the red as well!

Hey everyone!

I started painting Warhammer mid last year and I while I have dabbled in kitbashing before I this is my first one that uses multiple sets as well as Tamiya putty.

I got some lil fellas off FB Marketplace for really cheap so I wanted to do something interesting with them. This was them before:

I have a few questions, and thought you guys and gals might be able to help.

  1. Any general advice for kitbashing?
  2. How do you strip your old paint? It took multiple washes with simple green and scrubbing, which isn't what I have heard is the general amount needed.
  3. What chapter do you think would go well with this guy? I wanted to keep some of the yellow and maybe red from the original pieces.

Also, if you want to check out some of my other stuff and give advice for a newcomer to the hobby that would be awesome! https://www.instagram.com/andrewsometimespaints?igsh=cmw4MWFwend2NzBx
