Well, at least I'm not alone.

Oh no, I need to raise my hand to turn on the lights. Solution: have a multibillion conglomerate control everything in your house via an online service they control and can shut down on a whim.

Yeah, this is just stupid, I agree. I mean, I wouldn't ever use smart devices in my home. Not just because corps gathering data, but because I truly believe this just makes you lazy... well, at least me. And there is nothing worse than being lazy. Everyone is, from time to time, so am I, but getting out of that circle sooner rather than later is what matters, and smart devices just make the process a lot harder IMO.

Oh no, I'm clumsy and keep losing an essential thing. Solution: have a multibillion conglomerate go through all your purchases and identity at all times.

I wouldn't say I'm clumsy, I've never forgotten my plastic before I had a kid. There are just a lot more obligations and as I said, he thinks the world of me, he's litelarly glued to me, and the constant questions are distracting, especially when juggling with 3, 4 other things, keeping an eye on him on top, and... well, it just happens 🤷.

I dunno, at what point is the solution not worth that tiny inconvenience?

It's not tiny if I have to wait 3 days for the bank to issue me a new plastic, and you rarely have cash in you. I mean, who deals with cash nowadays anyway.

You can like, put your payment card in your phone's case. Heck you can even put bank notes in there.

That is an option that another user mentioned and yes, this hasn't occured to me before, so thank you as well for the suggestion 👍. Will look into finding a case that maybe has room for a card or two in the phone 😉.

Hm, this seems like a good option, the phone wallet I mean. Is this like a special case of some sort? Cuz I have an armor case for my phone and I'd like to keep it that way, cuz I also drop my phone... a lot 😒.

Yeah, I still think a few of them are funny, mostly because of the punchlines... and I can remember a few of them right now, and I chuckle a bit, but then get sef-guilted into thinking it's not OK 😂.

That won't make it easier to find when troubleshooting for a problem online. And your profile is tied to conversations in threads, simply archiving your posts is just a blob of useless data with no context.

Me as well. One of the reasons why I will never do this.

You know how I joined reddit? None of the reasons everyone else might have, it just looked like a cool place. No one uses it where I live, except a few hundred people.

That being said, this was after years and years of me leeching off of comments on reddit. So, I thought I'd give the community something back... it's only fair. I come from the forum scene, that's how forums work. And let's be honest, no matter how much we started hating a place, we never did this back in the day. Why? The info shared in those posts is probably more valuable than whatever we're trying to achieve by doing this.

Of course, it's your choice, your account. I'm just saying that I think it's selfish and mean and that I would never do it. The free flow of info is what keeps the net going. You start tempering with that and you're just fueling more users into mass media (if everyone did this, users can't find any info about anything they're troubleshooting and just return to doomscrolling on FB/IG/Twitter).

I never got paid for anything either, but neither did everyone else that helped me over the years.

Of course, the choice is yours, but it's not OK IMO.

Reasons don't fix the issue - the answer is mising.

You're neglecting the fact that fediverse tube instances can't possibly take the load and the volume of videos being uploaded on YT. That is why almost none of them have open registrations, only admin approved registrations (you apply, than the admin chooses whether to approve or deny your application).

That doesn't mean his strategy and approach is good.
