3D printers and laser cutters are significantly cheaper now.
I've fixed a few laser engravers for people that use them for jewelry. The current price of one for, let's say, ring engraving (3 axes) is in the ballpark of about 7 to 10K euros. And we're talking about the cheap Chinese copies here, not ones made by brand name companies.
This is still expensive in terms of personal ownership. Unless you use it for your business, there is no way you can buy this solely for your YT channel.

Because we have a kid together. I stay because of the kid. He likes having both of us at his side, not just me or her. Besides, I'm more of a mother to him than she ever was and he adores me, so I'm not about to leave him with her (the court will give custody to her by default, I'd have to fight for him, and that will cost, A LOT, which is burned money, he can decided when he's 12 who he wants to live with, I'll stay around till then).
You are absolutely correct. Whatever postive sides she might have (there are, but they're not that many to be honest) are completely overshadowed by her toxic personality.
I actually don't give in that easy. I could have used Google Pay a lot earlier, like years ago. But I didn't. I even dealt with cash only for the longest time, until some stores just stopped accepting cash ๐คท.
He says IoT devices are bad. He says most Linux distros are bad just cuz they don't use everything GPL licensed in them. Says don't use this, don't use that, yet the alternatives to what he proposes are... just no usable in the 21st century. Read pages in plain HTML, yeah right ๐.
It's the lingo he uses, he marks everything as bad, except for GNU or GPL licensed software. And that is off putting to most people and is why many new projects don't even use the GPL any more, they use MIT or BSD quite more often. The complete lack of any legal support for GPL projects from the FSF is also another reason. "There are just too many, we don't have enough lawers". Have you ever thought about, IDK, paying those people? Like you win one lawsuit, make a deal with the owner of the licensed work for him/her to invest part of the winning over to the FSF in order to actually pay these lawers and other people involved in the process. Do the same with every case, and you have yourself a sustainable system. No one wins this way, except those who infrindged the GPL license.
My 2 cents... doesn't mean that I'm right, but these are one of my personal reasons why I steer away from the FSF and RMS. These people are stuck in bitterness and grudges, no real insentive to offer a viable alternative whatsoever. It's like the Pale Moon project, except PM is much worse.
It's the reverse with her. She's beating everyone else up for different things that happened ages ago, but she has to bring them up. It's not one single big incident, they're individual incidents, not related or anything... it's just shit she remembers and just has to be the high and mighty judge, judging everyone else about their sins ๐. I mean, it gets tiring after a while. Yes, we know we screw up, we make mistakes, we are human, that's what humans do.
But, dare not point at her own mistakes, oh no, not only will you get a shitstorm of insults, completely unrelated to the problem, but also get accusations that this problem or mistake of her's is not actually her fault, but everyone elses... that, or she'll just start crying and play the victim.
I just don't have the time and the energy to do that any more. Too old and have a family now, which takes up most of my free time. The rest I spend here, on Lemmy.
