SRV (lemmy.world)

Took the SRV out last night for some bounty fun with the org mates. Never thought I'd have so much fun in an unarmed ship.

A couple of us were in combat ships, taking out the ERT bounties. Another ran a cargo ship. I piloted the SRV. Combat ships would knock down the bounties, preferably soft deathed. Any ships with decent cargo, I'd tow up to orbit and drop the ramp/lift. We'd transfer the cargo over, then make a run over to a salvage outpost and sell it.

Being unarmed put me in a position where I could concentrate on the big picture of the fight, while keeping an eye out for new hostiles. If we ever get the chance, upgrading the sensors on it would be my first component upgrade on it as a result (don't believe that's gonna happen). Towing the ships themselves wasn't complicated, but the mechanics involved mean I couldn't just tractor up to a Connie and horse on it without breaking the connection.

Update: apparently folk don't realize ERT bounty missions aren't players, but instead criminal NPCs. No players were harmed during the evening's events.

Can you tow and salvage Idrii you may encounter in Extreme Threat Combat Assists?

An Idris is likely too large. Tried towing a Reclaimer off the surface, without success: "Volume exceeded." If a Reclaimer is too large, an Idris has to be.

Mhm, then perhaps two or three xD

But imagine the amount of RMC you could get by scraping an Idris.

Unarmed... That's just what they'd expect, at least until you toss a large ship or piece of debris towards them!

Only to be ake sure I understand this correct: you where >4 ppl 1x transporter, 1x Collector und >2 or 3 player that where killing other players to literaly rob them?

Even if I understand this could be fun, I must admit the whole pvp aspect and ppl like you are the reason I still haven't bought the game... I know this will be an important aspect. Hiring protection as a trader, being a payed mercenary, multicrews and the fitting ships are only possible/necessary because of pirates and ppl like you... But in the end I feel like I am not enough of a roleplayer anymore to enjoy stuff like this ๐Ÿ˜”... Expecting to get robbed every time I try to earn some money seems like no fun at all ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

On the other hand I hate that almost in every game with possiblities liket this huge factions will arise because of players seaking for the greatest possible security to avoid said scenario...

ERT bounties are NPC only, not players. More to the point, these are criminal NPCs (hence the bounty), not law abiding NPCs.

Didn't realize that needed to be explicitly spelled out, but it does explain the downvotes.

As for the PvP aspect... Join an org of like minded players. We're not about to go around clobbering innocent & hard working players (unless they're associated with large companies, Hurston Dynamics especially). If we caught wind of such a player being accosted by pirates nearby, we're likely to come running.

Life in the 'Verse is a lot easier to get by when you've got someone to watch your back and leap in to help out.
