I have a very specific task I need to finish (among many other things and hence the problem).

I catch myself doing many other things except that, mostly because I work at home, and there are some 'home' related or personal planning related things that distract. So overall, I am not lazy or inefficient or anything necessarily the usual 'bad'.

Hack: Take my laptop, take the laundry, start it, set the timer for 40 minutes and then proceed to the nearest library/cafe with a very specific focussed goal of working on that task. With one and only one goal, to finish that specific task. Most likely 30 minutes is sufficient for that task. So stepping out, with a very specific time limit in the background, I could finish and come back when the timer rang. I finished the task.

I think even if it is a longer task, either it can broken down to a 30-minute subtask, or even better, take a break, change the laundry to dryer and get back to task for the next 45 mins :P
