very expensive compared with minisforum's/beelink's offerings

which they would add an oculink port to it for use with external gpu's

Honestly, getting something like a ROG Ally and a dock is about the same price (though obviously would have 16 GB vs the 32 GB as tested) and you'd have a device that could be used handheld too.

Steamdeck's and ROG Ally's have completely changed the math on these more premium USFF PCs. If it's only going to be couple hundred more to get similar performance, that convenience of a portable can easily tip the scales in their favour.

I love these! This (plus JBOD DAS) is what I use as a homelab (info) so I'm glad they're continuing this line

seems like a solid mini-PC, but definitely on the pricier side compared to similar options out there. an oculink port would have been a nice addition for those looking to hook up an external gpu.

yeah, this one seems overpriced compared to what minisforum and beelink offer. i'd rather go for something like a ROG Ally with a dock for the same price, and it'd have 16 GB instead of the tested 32 GB. plus, you get a handheld device too.

seems overpriced compared to other options on the market, might be better off with a different device for similar performance and more versatility.

this looks like a solid option for a compact yet powerful mini-PC. the specs are impressive and the inclusion of both USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 is a nice touch. definitely considering this for my next build.

4k30Hz HDMI in 2023 is just pathetic. The USB-C ports on the front are capable of carrying more display bandwidth than that.

EDIT: Sounds like it might have been a typo in the spec sheet; reviewer reports that 4k60 worked fine.

How much idle power it will take something like this?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

~5W. My 7840HS laptop idles at ~7W.

That would be creazy good

honestly great price for it, the desktop version of the 7480 will probably cost 300-350. you would be looking at more than that barebones system and something a few times larger
