Ugh I connected RM2 to a remarkable account and it uploaded my notebooks without confirmation (alien.top)

Surely this violated EU (at least) privacy laws? Was this buried in the TOS somewhere? All I wanted to do was use the "Read on Remarkable" feature. Note I didn't activate the subscription.

I'm with you. While the rM company thinks that the cloud syncing is a key feature, to me it's a key nuisance. If you don't want your files in the cloud you can only disconnect the account, but then you lose all other features they tied to Connect as well. And FWIW I don't give a s*** about privacy statements. That's just "paper", not technology.

And their encryption is a joke too. And I get it, key management is hard and you don't want end users to hang themselves. So for people who actually care, just don't suck our stuff up to your "encrypted at rest and in flight" cloud with a key that you control.
