Just installed my 7840U mainboard. 3D Mark Time Spy is getting around 1700, which is low for the 780m.

Running Unigine Valley I am getting 1500mhz core in Afterburner and Adrenalin saids that I am using 18w.

Is there anything I can try to get my time spy score up?

I've turned off Memory Integrity in Windows

I've done the BIOS setting that allocates RAM to the iGPU

Best Performance is selected

My understanding is that the iGPU performance is heavily effected by RAM. Make sure you're using 5600Mhz RAM, make sure you're using both slots for increased bandwidth, and low latency (CAS 40) RAM will also improve performance.

Any benchmark numbers on CAS 40 vs 46?

I want to get the Crucial 32GB Kit DDR5-5600 CL46 (CT2K16G56C46S5) Ram. Is that CAS 40/low latency?

No, that's CAS latency (CL) 46. I don't know if anybody has tested exactly how much performance difference that will make but it will be slightly worse

Well nothing expect 5600 seems to boot anyways. Its probably coming down to cas latency

fast ram, cooling pad

You said you’re using just one DIMM in another reply, which could contribute to this.

Besides that, I have no trouble getting ~30W TDP under heavy GPU load. Afterburner reports GPU temperature at ~70 degrees Celsius (though I’d take it with a grain of salt because many tools don’t seem to support 7040 very well yet). Was your chip throttling? You can try running a CPU benchmark and see if you get expected results. FYI, I got >9000 CPU score in Time Spy, >2000 in Cinebench R15 loop, and >5200 in Cinebench R20 loop.

Does the bios still only allow you to dedicate a maximum of 2GB to the iGPU? From what I’ve read, the Radeon 780m can have up to 8GB allocated, but it doesn’t sound like that’s an option with the Framework for some reason. Anyone know why?

Also curious

Update for those following.

Installed the second RAM module from Framework.

Fire Strike went from 1700 to 2500, so it worked and I am happy.

It turned off the additional ram gpu allocation in the BIOS when I installed the second module. I turned it back on and read 2048GB in Adrenalin.

Went from 18w at full to 25w at full. Clocks didn't seem to change and I have no idea how to OC the 780m.

Also lost maybe 80 ish points in Fire Strike when I turned on the RAM gpu allocation in the bios. That was weird but I figure the trade offs are worth it.

Thanks for your help you guys!
