I damaged the orignal motherboard of my hp notebook 2000 with old i5 processor because of static electricity could i just put in a cheap random old motherboard so it could work?

Laptop motherboards don’t have a standard shape. The only ones that could work are other boards from the same laptop design.

Static electricity, you say?

But /r/buildapc told me that ESD is basically a myth and modern hardware is immune!

Sure, if you’re keeping everything outside the case you could conceivably get something working with a different motherboard. I have built laptop mbs into tvs, cabinets etc. for different projects. But it would require an in depth understanding of all the components involved and most likely some petty good soldering skills in order to match up/replace connectors etc. By the time you are done you would find you would have better off just buying the right mb replacement on eBay.
