Still rocking the AMD Ryzen 2700 overclocked to 3.9Ghz, and honestly, it's fine... As long as it can put out 40-60fps on games I want to play, like Baldur's Gate 3, then I feel no need to upgrade from it. Also, I bought this CPU brand new for $150 with a free motherboard, by far, the best bargain I've ever come across. Maybe in 3-5 years, I'll pick up a used 5800X3D on ebay or something...
AMD
For all things AMD; come talk about Ryzen, Radeon, Threadripper, EPYC, rumors, reviews, news and more.
As long as it plays what you want it to I don't see any reason for upgrading, my I7 4790 and 1600 af are still going strong in almost every AAA game these days.
damn 3-5 years we will be on DDR6 at that point while you still be rocking a DDR4 system.
I alos had the Ryzen 2700, but it started to lack for my favorite game, so upgraded to a Ryzen 9 5900X, and runs like a charm, a little bit hotter, but still good temps.
Love seeing the amazing jump you can get to the 5800X3D as a mere drop-in on AM4 for anyone on older chips. Incredible value proposition. Hope it continues with AM5.
People will definitely be able to upgrade to Zen 5 X3D cpus with the current AM5 boards but whether they can do it for Zen 6 ones remains a question. As it stands AMD plans to support AM5 through 2025 which Zen 6 would launch not until at least a year later.
