I've always felt there was a lot of info that the game could specify, but doesn'tt - how long does a potion of haste last? How much faster is a scimitar compared to a sword? How bad is 1 point of strength penalty? How much damage does a crossbow gain per upgrade? How much shielding a shielding potion gives?

This mod adds all these answers.

  • No information you aren't supposed to know (like un-IDed item effects) is added, this isn't a cheating mod.

  • No gameplay changes. At all. Up to runs on the same seed being identical between this mod and ShPD. I plan to keep updating this mod to keep up with ShPD's updates and guarantee there will never be any gameplay changes in the future either. This is just a parallel version of ShPD for people who like knowing more numbers but don't feel like opening a wiki every time they need to remember something like an augmentation stone's effect.

The mod hasn't been tested too well because of the immense amount of descriptions it affects, so if any descriptions break or don't fit on the screen or reveal info that you should have no way of knowing, contact me.

Congrats on releasing a new PD version! Consider adding [DEV] to the start of your post title, to indicate that you're making an announcement as a developer.

For those curious, don't include this information in Shattered mainly because I feel it becomes cumbersome in lots of cases. I do think there are some cases where the game says too little or too much at the moment though.

I can't find the issue tracker link on github. Is it disabled or something?

Seed text

Plant seeds aren't showing their related potions. Says "text not found".

Pasty text

Pasty doesn't show the number of turns of satiety like normal rations do.

Item identification talents

This talent (and ones like it) should say " fewer" and not "less" if you want to please the pedants like me. πŸ˜… Although, "2.5x fewer uses" doesn't make sense either because "2.5x" implies it's increasing the learning speed, and "fewer" means decrease. I've never liked phrasing like "it costs 3 times less" when "1/3 the price" is much clearer.

The description also doesn't mention what the default speed is. What is it, 10 hits for armor? 20? Since level 1 of this talent reduces the required armor hits by 43% maybe say:

The Duelist needs to make 60% fewer hits with a weapon (12 fewer) to identify weapons, and receive 43% fewer damaging hits (5 fewer) to identify armor.

That assuming armor takes 10 hits and the number of hits saved is rounded down. I don't a actually know if that's how it works. I do know weapons are 20 hits.

Thanks! Can't believe I missed the seed thing. Released mi0.2b that fixes these two bugs on github. And turned on the issue tracker, it was off by default.

I just edited my comment a bunch to talk about item identification talents and how they might be improved.

I disagree with 2.5x fewer/less not making sense, "3 times less" is a completely normal expression in the English language, I'm not changing that.

The description also doesn’t mention what the default speed is.

Every un-IDed item's description mentions how many uses it needs, and you can open the items page of the journal to see it. I see no reason to put it again in the talent description.

I just thought it'd be nice to put info where its contextual. I, for one, did not expect the journal to contain that info, and it's common to not have unidentified items when taking tier 1 talents, but I understand.

As for "3 times less" making sense, I'm not the only one who thinks it's nonsensical or confusing at best. Just look at these replies to this question about it:

i was thinking about something like that this morning

Nice!

What I've always wanted is a game log including detailed combat information. "How did that prison guard just hit me for 23 damage?" I want to see the damage and armor rolls, etc. Everything.

With all the normal messages the game shows mixed in.

There would need to be a button somewhere to show this as a popup. Just brainstorming here. Not really expecting you to add this.
