Hey guys , im really sorry if this is a recurrent or annoying question, but since its my first time on the subreddit I wouldn't know if its asked a lot.

Is the las vegas no laughing batsu officially the last one? I know there was a comment from matsumoto about the "violence" shtick being frowed upon and that would be part of the reason , but was there anything more?

Not officially cancelled. They've commented several times about trying to bring it back.

The Vegas show was already run under the increased scrutiny of the new content laws.

But the relationship between the stars and the company soured after the production of that show. It seems to be recovering now, though.

I'm hoping they retired the format for now and are looking for a new way to renew it. Last batsus have felt kinda soulless and even repetitive imo

In short, no. The violence issue is a minor part of it, I think their age, cost vs viewership and more are issues. And as mentioned below, the stars of the show (well mostly matsumoto) were pretty unhappy with how the vegas batsu was done and the end result of it.

It's a shame not to see the group in the batsu game, but it could be a great opportunity to expand the format. Imagine Matsumoto and Hamada as "show directors," which we already had in few old batsus, and few comedy groups fighting for main prize of "No laughing champions." Would love to see something like this.

Ehh, the good old "drawer segment" lost forever. What a shame.

I think, and maybe I'm slightly off, that they are trying(or at least tried) to bring it back. Some laws changed, and also... and this is more my opinion, it became less fun for them, too. It became stale, heavily repetitive, and somehow, they looked tired of that. Matsumoto alone is quite a perfectionist to keep the old, stale, and now even legally problematic format to continue.

I've seen BPO mentioned a lot in this subreddit. They have no issues with Gaki no Tsukai.

"Nippon Television held a discussion with BPO's Youth Committee. During this meeting, BPO clarified that they do not consider situations in which where pain is foreseeable as problematic. This means that the "You Must Not Laugh" segment, where performers can anticipate the "punishment games," does not fall under BPO's designation."

they're working on new batsu games, so vegas isn't the last one. the vegas show faced issues but things seem better now.
