Wasn't Gremio relegated a season back. Got back in there top shape as usual.

Botafogo absolutely bottling the league

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This title race and relegation battle is INSANE.

Bragantino have Botafogo and Flamengo back to back, two crazy games.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (5 children)

How do people feel about RB Bragantino in Brazil? Do they hate them like Leipzig in Germany or not really care?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Most people feels indifference mostly because Bragantino is from a City with 170k people and has a very small amount of fans, some people call them an "artificial team", but the only thing they really changed was the team's logo and added "red bull" in front of the name, apart from that it's the same team, in the same city and stadium and the same fans.. they just just a decent management now.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Yes, the difference between Leipzig and Bragantino is that Bragantino had some history in Brazilian football before Red Bull.

Bragantino had already won 1 Série B title in 1989, 1 Campeonato Paulista title in 1990 and was runner-up in the Brasileirão in 1991.

This reduces the feeling of an artificial team.

Fun fact to foreigners: Red Bull tried to create a team from scratch in Brazil called Red Bull Brasil. It didn't make it out of the bottom divisions hahaha. Brazilian football is ruthless.

much rather them win it than Palmeiras or Flamengo

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Our clubs are so poorly managed that we think RB can set a good example on how to do things correctly. We don't really care about they being an artificial team, we have more important issues to deal with, like very bad football pitches.

Most competetive league in the world and it's not even debatable

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The fact that continental spots + relegation account for the majority of the table makes this league insanely tense, Everyone always has something to play for.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a league leader with under 60 points after GW 32 for division with 20 teams. I don’t know if that’s good or bad still

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Top 5 league in the world and I'm tired of pretending it's not

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

One of the best systems too. Everyone's fighting for something over there

And at the halfway point there were pundits saying the league was wrapped up already...

5 rounds to go and the first and 4th placed teams meet this weekend, before the final stretch after the return from the international break.

Bragantino's match in hand is against Flamengo, and Botafogo's is against Fortaleza if I'm not mistaken. Fortaleza are no pushover, despite being all the way down in 11th, they can climb up to 8th with their matches in hand.

The fight for the top 4 Libertadores spots is going to be mad, and none of those top 4 or even 6 teams are guaranteed to hold on to that coveted spot while also believing they can win the whole thing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I mean, tbf no one was expecting what is happening atm, if Botafogo was half decent they would still be like easily 6 or 9 points ahead without considering the missing game.

They went from 2 defeats in 19 games to 9 defeats in 32.

They lost almost 4 times more in the last 13 games than they did in first 19.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Worth noting that number 8 (fluminense) was libertadores winner, number 11 (fortaleza) sulamericana finalist and number 14 (inter) was almost libertadores finalist being send out by fluminense in the last minutes of the semi finals. Grêmio was in serie B last year but with the power of Suarez and futevôlei are managing to fight for the title. The last time botafogo won the league was in 95, and they were 13 points clear mid season. This league is truly amazing

Is 36 year old Suarez playing with 1 knee going to carry a newly promoted team to the title?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Best league in the world!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So many teams who can win the title, the ending's gonna be crazy

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

And also so many teams with chances of relegation, its insane.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

If Botafogo bottle this, I will understand if some fans never watch football again.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

If? It's already gone...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Our biggest lead when nobody had a game in hand was 8 points and we were still extremely disappointed. I can’t imagine how botafogo fans will recover if they really do fumble it.

Holy fuck that last 5 looks brutal.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Botafogo gave up a 16 point lead, a streak of like 18 matches unbeaten across all competitions (and I think another streak as locals) and lost 3 key matches back to back (one in a clásico against Vasco). It’s actually maddening how badly they’re fucking up this season

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

14 point lead*

I already accepted that this will be another title for Flamengo, I just hope Palmeiras manages to get a G4 finish.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Ffs, honestly I'm still bitter over 4 matches

Conceding near the end against Bragantino - 3x3

The defensive issues against Corinthians and the neglected clear penalty near the end - 4x4

Two 1x2 losses after scoring the first goal against Santos and Atlético PR

Well, there's a reason we're the fourth worst defense...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

My guy...

Atlético Mineiro lost to Cruzeiro, Vasco and Coritiba at home. And drew twice with América Mineiro (once after taking a 2-0 lead).

My sanity is gone.

Damn, 1 point in last 5 matches for Botafogo. And Gremio somehow 2nd place with 49 goals conceded.

Brazil league is wild.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Botafogo had 47 pts in the first 19 games, only to follow with 12 in the next 13. Absurd drop in quality

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Grêmio’s 9 is Luis Suarez. They concede 3 and win 4x3.

I saw Botafogo vs Fluminese live a few weeks ago and WOW Bota dominated and were on a different level, how they are bottling this is crazy

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Fluminense didn’t really have their minds on this game though. They have been on very lousy form in the league, totally focused on winning Libertadores (and, well, it worked)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

My idolo Ramon Diaz pulling the impossible with Vasco, his magia Cuyana is insanely strong.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Tbf Vasco squad improved drastically on the midseason window and they were definitely underperforming before. But Díaz is doing very well!

Please don't let Red Bull win this league as well.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Vasco. Almost in the relegation zone? What happened?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'd be surprised if they weren't

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Have you not been following Brazilian football in the past 20 years?

What does the goals column signify?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is my first year following this league and my god do I enjoy the chaos from top to bottom. Come on vascoooo

Botafogo 1st place is like a cow on a tree, nobody knows how it got there, you just know it's gonna fall
