During this whole conversation you can kinda see Messi being starstruck a little bit.
Football / Soccer / Calcio / Futebol / Fußball
Zidane apparently has a certain aura and presence that people really feel when around him. Not even necessarily due to his skills as a player or his status in society. I think even if he had been a regular average joe he would be one of those people that exude leadership and confidence.
So there’s a good chance Messi is under that spell even if he sees himself as equal or superior.
He's dead sexy and has sort of resting, "I am very displeased with this situation" face. Also, of course, a god of the game.
Plus, Messi is rather shy and easily becomes bashful in social situations, especially ones where he is the focus, and they are going to talk about how great he is. You'd think he'd get used to it, but he never seems to. When he went up to get his award for the FIFA Best Player in January, and the audience kept applauding he said, "you're making me more nervous."
you can kind of see it in pictures alone. tons of charisma
Zizou the king.
You’re basically saying Zidane is a giga chad
Most revered Frenchman. Even more than any of their presidents.
If he ever ran for office he'll have a damn good shot
I always thought the ones who have that kind of aura are Zizou, Seedorf, Xabi Alonso, Pirlo, and Henry.
I think it was Mascherano who said: "The thing about Messi is that he doesn't realize he's Messi."
He's just a player, a football fan, like any other who would be in awe of Zidane.
The other funny thing is that Messi is getting the point in middle age where he doesn't seem so much younger than Zidane anymore. They were still playing at the same time at some point.
I'd be happy to pay to have these guys talk more about football as they did with the #10 role—truly a brilliant half-hour piece.
Great marketing move by Adidas on letting these two legends converse with one another.
Everyone that loves football should watch this. Who would have thought Zidane was the one Messi would open up to
That last comment by Messi on Zidanes shirt really says alot
Thank you for posting this. I looked up the interview and it's incredible.
ZZ the real Goat
Ronaldo is not going to like this. Zidane just entered his book of 'haters.'
I've been too afraid to ask but this feels like the proper thread to do so.
What is the difference between a 10 and a 9? When I was a kid I just assumed that the 10 referred to the best player/goal scorer. But now most strikers are referred as 9.
What does each number stand for?
10 is the one who pulled a string to score a goal. Usually most creative player with sense of scoring and final pass. Totti, Del Piero, Messi is the scoring type of 10. Meanwhile there also a no 10 that focus on being a metronome and elegant player like Zidane, Ozil, Hagi.
9 is your main spearhead. The one you expect to score in 1 on 1, the one who save your team and score the first in desperate 2-0 lose before half time, the one who dare to demand for the ball to score. They are usually strong, skilled in first time shoot, can smell the blood between spaces to kill the game. Prime example is Vardy, CR7, Haaland. Extra point to different breed of 9 from Brazil, Romario and R9 who also excel in dribbling and trickery. CR7 formerly on that category
As time passes, some 9 has the technical ability for last pass and playmaking like Kane and Giroud. But they are still no 9.
When the goat meets the god
Funny seeing the ball on the ground there, just playing innocent, knowing what those two could do with it.
🐐recognises🐐
Nowadays we need footballer to be fast be strong be so all-rounded that I kinda think of most of them looks the same on the pitch.
Zidane is like a dancer on the pitch he's so elegant. Messi is walking around but he is like the magician, surprised everyone everytime.
I'm not saying I don't like the modern footballer but who will dislike Ronaldinho.
Hey Christiano its Zidane, are we still up for bowling on Tuesday ?
Nice
Zidane saying that after abolishing the #10 position at Real Madrid and sitting one of the last true #10s in James Rodriguez… is peak irony. Hahaha
I can’t wait for Messi to retire fucking hell
Jude is doing a good job
Two of my fav players from diff eras. I am grinning like Leo.
cringe because of the stolen BallonDor
Watch Zidane joining Inter Miami at some point. :P
Game recognizes game
That's pedigree right there.
