As long as my synch for reddit version works I dont see myself leaving reddit.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Not yet. Sadly the small community’s that had me hooked on Reddit in the first place have yet to make it here (HFY my beloved). I also find the current mobile clients a bit jank (in comparison to Apollo) but I hope that situation will get better with time. Anyhow fuq the 1st party Reddit client, I ain't touching that shit. Apollo till it breaks!

My third eldest, Larissa, she was talking about this just last week. She is very smart, I’ll give her that, because she was the first in the family to go to university. And she passed with distinctions. So we’re all quite proud of her.

I browse through brave browser out of spite now hit after downloading Memmy I’ve found myself on Lemmy way more than Reddit. Also feel I contribute a lot more to conversations than I did on Reddit.

Yes. This exactly.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Yes, not sticking around while it slowly becomes a worse and worse user experience

If reddit kills my patched third party app then I'm done using it on mobile, and if they kill old.reddit then I'm done using it on desktop. I'd switch to Lemmy or kbin full time but the content variety is VERY low compared to reddit still, especially for more niche topics like specific games or hobbies.

Yeah. Even when many niche communities are still there, I prefer to bet on Lemmy and its growth instead of supporting what was once great and now is only an ego megatrip for Spez and his overgrown ambition and greed.

Here it feels nice and cozy. I like it a lot. And also, the developers of my two favourite Reddit apps will soon unveil their apps for Lemmy (same name even). Check soon for Boost for Lemmy and Sync for Lemmy.

Working on it for sure.

I haven't been back in a couple of weeks now but haven't gone so far as to delete my account. As a software developer, I donated some of my time helping people with beginner programming questions and decided to leave those comments in place for anyone who might find them useful still.

But I think it's fair to say I've moved on from reddit. It's so stupid what they did, but I also like this idea of social media being maintained by the community it serves rather than some faceless corporation, so I don't see myself going back out of principle.

I believe you made the right choice. To me reddit is no more than an encyclopedia now. But it also may be the best encyclopedia ever created.

I uninstalled Reddit when Infinity died

I gave Lemmy a shot after the API debacle on reddit. First week was bumpy with lots of timeouts and servers that weren't able to handle all the new users from reddit.

It quickly improved. So much so that I went ahead and deleted my reddit account.

I am but I'm not sure why everyone complaint of ads but still using Reddit doesn't just use Reddit Revancec?

Already have, reddit's just for getting decent results in Google

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

95% at the moment in favour of ~~YNNEL~~ Lemmy, with the occasional need to check in at the other place for niche interests and sport forums (there's very little I've found in terms of pro wrestling, cricket and rugby discussions over here so far). As and when those communities develop over here, I'll ditch the other place completely.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

I just have to find some of my communities here then thats it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

I prefer Squiggy

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

I don't have any accounts in reddit anymore. I only browse reddit maybe for 5 mins a day now. I could block reddit without barely noticing at this time

[–] RunAwayFrog 1 points 2 years ago

I won't be able to fully replace it, I'm afraid. Not before communities gain the ability for their posts to not show up in high traffic feeds.

Some subreddits I follow have this set, but this is not yet implemented in Lemmy if I'm not mistaken. So a workable move to Lemmy for them is not possible at this moment.

I wish but I couldn’t load the comments at the first place…
