Asking for advice: Framework shipping delays (alien.top)

I was planning to pre-order the Framework 16 for next year, but my old computer just bricked on me :(

Of course, I need a computer asap for school and my projects, and the Framework 16 only ships in march-april. What's your experience with shipping delays of your orders ? Is there a secondary market where previous batches are still available ? Am I missing something here ?

I could buy an off-the-shelf computer, but I'm not keen on it and would rather avoid waiting 4-5 (the lifespan of this new computer) more years before getting my Framework.

Look at renting options in your area. A big one is grover.com available in many countries.

Otherwise you are free to make me an offer for my batch 1 :)

I dont know how much Performance you need until Match but you could maybe buy something used for little money on eBay.

Also what exactly happened to your Computer? Maybe we can fix it. At least until you get the 16

Thanks for your answer. I would love to fix it/ get it repaired, I'm just a little out of my depth diagnostic-wise.

Here's what I did so far :

A couple months ago, it started having issues charging. There was a false contact on the connector that required me to put it at a certain angle to charge. When it worsened, I got the power supply connector replaced.

After this repair, the battery was no longer charging. I opened it up to check if the battery was correctly connected to the board, and it was. The battery was just not picking up charge anymore.

A few days ago, I was using it for a few hours (I was playing at that time, so temp might have got a bit high), when it abruptly turned off, as in the power supply was disconnected.

After this, I let it cool down, tried turning it back on while plugged, with and without the battery. No luck this far.

Grab something cheap like a used ThinkPad, then move it on in a few months when you can get the FW16?

$/£200 would get you a 4 year old quad core machine that's come off lease.
