My grandmother went to the doctor during her cancer diagnosis and complained that she had a bump inside her ear that affected her hearing. The doctor investigated and there was an insect that died in there many years before and the skin grew around it.

In the end, it was not removed. They were cremated together.

How sweet. They were together until the end.

Now I have a new nightmare.

This happened to me. It was a much smaller bug than a fly though.

And I did the worst thing and tried to get it out with a q tip out of sheer desperation. The sound of the wings buzzing in my ear was agonizing.

I ended up going to the ER because I thought it was stuck in there after I killed it with the qtip. After a good 4 hour wait, turned out it wasn't in there anymore so it was a huge waste of time on top of that.

I now panic whenever I hear bugs flying by my ears.

OH .... Ear!

I thought it said EYE .... I spent all of about two minutes having nightmares of getting a fly stuck in my eye and having to pour baby oil over it.

When I was 4 a centipede crawled into my ear canal. They got it out by holding ice on my ear until it crawled back out again.
