I'd love to see local community pop up like /r/WashingtonDc or whatever town state you're in

Relaxed section for discussion and debate that doesn't fit anywhere else. Whether it's advice, how your week is going, a link that's at the back of your mind, or something like that, it can likely go here.
Subcommunities on Beehaw:
This community's icon was made by Aaron Schneider, under the CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.
r/analog, and more generally r/photography
I miss r/actuallesbians, r/MTF, and some obscure gaming communties like r/titanfall, r/Metroid and r/Earthbound.
Oh and the brainrot known as r/okbuddychicanery and r/anarchychess.
The general feel so far I’ve seen on beehaw is that wider communities are preferred - one operating systems community instead of separate Linux, Mac, Windows, etc. Same with gaming. The idea being that wider communities bring more exposure to niche subtopics.
I think it started just from lack of enough users to support more niche communities, but yeah, I'm starting to like it this way too I think. It probably helps avoid the echo chamber effect re. trivial shit, too. This way, it's less likely people will end up in little bubbles just preaching to their choirs or arguing in circles. Maybe.
I'd like a trans community (I am transmasculine, however). To some extent the reddit trans subs are not my ideal, but I can't articulate what my ideal would be.
My wishlist:
- Movies
- Europe
- Soccer
- Apple
Media-related communities such as r/plex r/sonarr r/radarr plus the other *arrs and related like plex meta manager
r/outside, r/publicbsod, r/wildlinuxappears, r/cyberdeck, r/WritingPrompts, r/ChatGPT
r/vegan
And in no way, am I saying I would like to recreate that community, but a vegan friendly space with Beehaw's core values, just sound amazing to me. r/vegancirclejerk was great too, but I had personal issues with the mods.
anime
but at the same time I can see how another lemmy instance could be setup for being more anime/japan stuff oriented
If we could have an anime community on beehaw that didn't fill up with garbage sexism and transphobia like so many anime communities on the internet, I would absolutely love it.
I’d love to see a community for pro wrestling! The industry as a whole has made a lot of progress towards being inclusive. It has a long ways to go of course, but an even longer way for the social media communities to be less toxic and more thoughtful in content and discussions.
Once I get back home next week I am going to start my own server for paganism/heathenry/animism

- More vinyl record collector communities. Always loved finding new music and seeing what interesting things people are picking up.
- Communities for specific, niche genres of music. Synthwave, mallcore, house music, jazz, etc.
- Archery! Love seeing the kind of things people are shooting, how people are shooting, getting advice, giving advice and learning new things about the sport.
- Geographically centered communities. I like having communities for my local state and cities to see what's going on in the area. Way more informative than local news.
