So if gambling is, quote: "dishonourable, prejudicial to, or against the welfare of the League or the game of hockey” why the fuck is it the core of all sportscasting now?

Make sports betting legal and watch people bet on sports. Advertise nothing but sports betting and watch people get addicted.

The League’s investigation found no evidence that Pinto made any wagers on NHL games

Interesting that the punishment was so long

Based on this, I am speculating this was a case of him providing insider information to someone else betting on NHL games. I read somewhere (can't find it again) that players are allowed to bet on non NHL games.

That's about the only explanation that makes sense based on the length of suspension and the players association not fighting it.

I wonder if the NHLPA are going to fight this one.

I would consider this a rule from the days when sports betting was not legal by and large, but that's no longer the case. I would hope they fight it too.

Sens helmet ad irony

It was backdated. Honestly, if he had to sign his QO to begin serving the suspension, zero chance he'd stay with the Sens when he hits UFA.

It seems you are right. It looks like it's back dated to Ottawa's first game of the season and goes based on how many games the team has played.

What pisses me off is the lack of transparency. This is a huge punishment which is supposed to be a deterrent for others but everyone is having to speculate what happened.

There's a really helpful podcast going around at the moment that I'd recommend to anyone who's interested in the subject.

Elliott and Jeff are usually pretty good with regards to reporting fact, and whilst they're careful not to report what they don't know, I think they do a good job of building a picture of what happened.
